Spice Girls’ Say You’ll Be There turns 30 today, and we’re celebrating with our honest review from our track by track breakdown of Spice. Chris and Chan get into why this might be the most perfect song in the Spice Girls catalogue, from that G-funk synth intro and record scratch to the best harmonica solo ever put on a pop record.
We also dig into the headphone-only details (that funky guitar hiding in your right ear), how the ad-libs build all the way to Mel C’s iconic “YES I SWEAR!”, what the lyrics actually mean, and the Pulp Fiction and Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! energy of the desert spy video.
