[00:00:25] We have to give a very special shout out to our producers Emily, George, Lily, Louis, Jonathan and Shaquille. Yes.

[00:00:32] Yes, indeed.

[00:00:33] Okay, so HYBE. We've already talked a lot about most of these girl groups through the years.

[00:00:39] So definitely check out those episodes if you haven't, but we're now gonna have them face off in our song, video and performance rounds.

[00:00:48] Which girl group wins out? So a reminder that this is meant for pure fun.

[00:00:54] Please don't take it too seriously. You can join in, let us know what wins for you in each category in the comments below and support your fave.

[00:01:02] But yeah, you ready?

[00:01:04] Yes, keep it clean. I want a clean fight y'all.

[00:01:08] Okay, so we've decided on their like latest releases as of December 2024. So let's get into it. Let's get ready.

[00:01:17] Trumball. Round one.

[00:01:20] All right. Rest in the ring is player one, New Jeans with How Sweet. And this was done by Gigi, Sarah Ahrens, Elvira, Oscar Scheller, Benny, Trove, Berman, 250 and Danielle of New Jeans.

[00:01:38] And we talked about this one before.

[00:01:40] We have.

[00:01:41] We have.

[00:01:41] So the first round is all about the song itself. So production, the hook, the vocals, the melodies.

[00:01:48] So I pretty much have the same opinion that I did earlier in the year. I still really like the song.

[00:01:53] I don't think it's half as good as some of the other stuff that New Jeans has released, however.

[00:01:58] No, no, no.

[00:01:59] But I still enjoy it. I wouldn't skip it if it came on. I think the beat and the percussion elements are great. It's got this kind of garage-y kind of thing going on.

[00:02:07] The rhythm of the hi-hat is super fun. And then all the space laser sounds definitely keep your attention.

[00:02:13] And I do love how well mixed all the New Jeans stuff is. I don't know if that's 250 that does that or if it's someone else.

[00:02:21] But they are kind of like the most consistent kind of name in their full discography.

[00:02:25] But there's always so much depth and warmth in every single song.

[00:02:30] Like even in the song that's so metallic because of all the space sounds and stuff, there's still a warmth in there, which I appreciate.

[00:02:37] And the overall melody is nice. You know, it's basically what they're good at.

[00:02:42] Yeah.

[00:02:42] It's chill.

[00:02:43] Yeah.

[00:02:44] You know, it's all kind of very relaxed and kind of sweet.

[00:02:48] But yeah, I feel and this is kind of what I said at the last time too was I do wish there was a little bit more dynamic in the vocal delivery.

[00:02:57] You know, because lyrically it's like, oh, how sweet it is to be rid of this toxic person out of my life.

[00:03:03] But when they sing it, it's just like, you know, it's just like...

[00:03:08] Yeah, like, does it really taste sweet?

[00:03:11] Like, I can't tell.

[00:03:12] Like, you know, a little bit more euphoria maybe.

[00:03:16] I don't know.

[00:03:17] Like, I feel like there could have...

[00:03:18] I get the chill thing, but also, I don't know.

[00:03:20] I just feel like a lot of their songs are like this.

[00:03:22] So if you're going to do a song that has a bit more of a story to it, then you can do a bit more vocally.

[00:03:28] Yeah.

[00:03:29] Yeah.

[00:03:29] I think it's a good song.

[00:03:31] I do wish there were some ad-libs or something near the end just to kind of build it to a climax.

[00:03:35] But yeah, has your mind changed since we talked about this earlier this year?

[00:03:40] I would say no.

[00:03:41] You know, the summery chill situation was cool.

[00:03:45] I feel like Bubblegum had a little bit more of a vocal dynamism.

[00:03:50] Yes.

[00:03:50] I don't know.

[00:03:52] Unfortunately, we didn't get a lot of releases due to all the drama.

[00:03:55] The drama is not going to change any of my opinion of any of the groups here.

[00:03:59] But it just sucks that because of the drama, we probably would have gotten a lot more singles.

[00:04:02] I mean, that first rollout when they came out, and then even with the whole Get Up album release,

[00:04:07] we had single after single or at least practice after videos, content that related to the music.

[00:04:13] So I wonder what would have happened had they have not stopped that supernatural.

[00:04:18] But yeah, I mean, the song is chill.

[00:04:20] It reminds me of roller skating driving to the beach, which is good.

[00:04:22] The lyrics are relatable and age-appropriate, which I appreciate.

[00:04:26] But yeah, like you mentioned, I'm not vocally impressed with this girl group in terms of their singing.

[00:04:31] I enjoy them.

[00:04:32] They're fun.

[00:04:33] But the singing isn't super complicated, and I do believe that's because of whoever wrote the demos.

[00:04:38] They are probably given a brief from whomever, and they followed it to the letter.

[00:04:44] Or they sang it a certain way where only one person was singing.

[00:04:46] And usually with a soloist, they'll sing it that fits their voice.

[00:04:51] So even if they add layers to it, it's going to sound like one person.

[00:04:54] Unfortunately, New Jeans kind of got that, got this.

[00:04:59] One person may have been singing the demo.

[00:05:00] So when they just trade lines, it sounds like one tone.

[00:05:03] You know what I'm saying?

[00:05:04] I mean, one person singing a demo could kind of change up their tone or whatever,

[00:05:07] but something gives me the impression that that didn't happen.

[00:05:10] Same complaint, really, about the bridge.

[00:05:12] Like, Danielle can actually hit notes, and I wonder why they didn't give her like that R&B moment

[00:05:16] that she could really do at the end toward the bridge.

[00:05:20] Some ooh-ahs, some how sweet to kind of punctuate the words,

[00:05:24] to add that little extra like, yes, you're gone, that we're both kind of looking for.

[00:05:31] Yeah, like that, I don't know what the expression is called right now,

[00:05:35] but like that, yes, R&L-A.

[00:05:37] But yeah, the chill thing is in right now.

[00:05:39] I mean, Feather by Sabrina Carpenter has the same kind of easygoing, laid-back kind of delivery.

[00:05:46] You know, I'm done with you.

[00:05:47] I'm so happy.

[00:05:47] So it is what it is with this one, for sure.

[00:05:49] But it's a cute song.

[00:05:50] I appreciate it, for sure.

[00:05:52] Mm-hmm.

[00:05:52] Okay, well, moving on to Player Two, we have Cat's Eye with Touch.

[00:05:57] This was done by Coda Banks, Caroline Aylin, Taka Perry, Balik Slatkin, Omer Fetty, and Kashmir Kat.

[00:06:05] And first off, if you have not listened to our Cat's Eye episode, which we made kind of right after the Netflix show came out,

[00:06:13] definitely check that out.

[00:06:14] It was our most popular episode of the year.

[00:06:17] Yes, it was.

[00:06:18] Oh my gosh, this is so true.

[00:06:20] Oh, and also, we're almost at 3K in the subbies on YouTube.

[00:06:22] So, definitely hit that subscribe button.

[00:06:26] You've already made it this far.

[00:06:27] Come finish the journey with us, loveys.

[00:06:29] All right, so this song, I feel like my opinion has definitely changed a lot.

[00:06:34] I kind of wish, even up against Taemin, that I had chosen the song for certain rounds.

[00:06:38] I won't say which ones.

[00:06:39] But I like this song.

[00:06:40] It is very addictive.

[00:06:41] It's very dreamy.

[00:06:42] It's delicate.

[00:06:43] It sounds, does still sound like Ariana.

[00:06:46] Totally.

[00:06:46] Ariana has like a crazy hold on the pop vocal soundscape.

[00:06:50] It's like amazing, but also a little annoying.

[00:06:53] It's not her fault, but eh, eh, you know, industry stuff.

[00:06:56] But yeah, I mean, I feel like the song doesn't have anything that really makes them sound vocally different, really,

[00:07:03] because of how they're whisper singing.

[00:07:05] Except Dani's part.

[00:07:06] Dani's like spoken parts make it feel like conversational.

[00:07:08] And I think I said that in the last video.

[00:07:10] I was like, it feels just like the girls are just like, girl, press ignore.

[00:07:14] You know, things like that I like.

[00:07:16] Um, so it feels a little bit more like girls chatting about, chatting to their friends about like a really lame guy.

[00:07:21] I do wish the song had a bridge though.

[00:07:23] Like it's, the song is super short and it goes nowhere except to the end.

[00:07:27] And I'm like, God dang it.

[00:07:28] Yeah.

[00:07:29] You have Megan, Sophia, and Laura, and apparently Dani, because they've been, they've been like just now releasing videos of them harmonizing.

[00:07:36] Y'all can do it.

[00:07:38] Why are we not doing it?

[00:07:46] You know?

[00:07:47] Yes.

[00:07:47] I completely agree.

[00:07:48] Cause it just ends and it's like, Ooh, you could have taken this up another level.

[00:07:52] Yeah.

[00:07:53] But yeah, this song has definitely grown on me more as well since we reviewed it.

[00:07:57] Cause we only reviewed it, you know, like a few weeks after it came out.

[00:07:59] So yes.

[00:08:00] Um, like watching it go viral, um, more and more like I have so many friends who are not into K-pop at all.

[00:08:08] Yes.

[00:08:08] But they know this song and they know the dance and, and that's been really, really fun.

[00:08:12] And it's been a gateway actually for them to explore the K-pop world a bit more, which I think is pretty cool.

[00:08:18] Yes.

[00:08:19] Um, so yes, I, I do still stand by, I agree with you that the song has so much more potential if it was a minute longer.

[00:08:25] Uh, and I do wish we got a bit more, uh, just unique tones in the way that they sang it.

[00:08:32] Cause I think part of it is also just the vocal processing as well.

[00:08:34] Like they've just kind of taken out any kind of, I don't know, just interesting parts of each voice, which is kind of annoying.

[00:08:41] Uh, but yeah, I think it's, it's awesome.

[00:08:45] And I'm excited to talk about kind of the visuals cause we didn't really get to talk about many of the performances and stuff at the last time.

[00:08:51] Um, but yeah, it's definitely grown on me.

[00:08:54] I, it's definitely probably in one of my top K-pop or K-pop adjacent songs of the year.

[00:09:01] Yeah.

[00:09:02] Uh, and yeah, I enjoy it.

[00:09:05] Indeed.

[00:09:06] Yes.

[00:09:07] Icons ate well with this one.

[00:09:09] All right.

[00:09:09] Moving right along.

[00:09:10] We have player three, Le Seraphim with Crazy.

[00:09:13] And this one was done by, it says, it cracks me up, it says Hitman Bang.

[00:09:17] He's one of those like, well, I own the company.

[00:09:20] But yeah, but it's weird because he's not on the other ones though.

[00:09:23] Right.

[00:09:24] This is true.

[00:09:25] Winters are.

[00:09:25] Oh, but I guess cause they're not, those are like subsidiaries.

[00:09:28] Okay.

[00:09:29] Okay.

[00:09:29] He won't, he won't put himself on the new Jean songs.

[00:09:32] Oh my God.

[00:09:33] Stop.

[00:09:34] All right.

[00:09:35] So Crazy was done by score.

[00:09:37] Anthony Watts, Megatone.

[00:09:39] I love Julia.

[00:09:40] Hitman Bang.

[00:09:41] Levin Kali.

[00:09:42] Jay Bach.

[00:09:43] Jake Tori.

[00:09:44] Supreme Boy.

[00:09:45] Kido AI.

[00:09:46] And Hyunjin and Sakura of the Seraphim.

[00:09:49] That's true.

[00:09:50] All right.

[00:09:50] It's a lot of names.

[00:09:51] Oh my goodness.

[00:09:52] Oh God.

[00:09:53] We haven't talked about this one on the show.

[00:09:55] We have not.

[00:09:55] And I was so hoping it would make it that month that it was out.

[00:09:58] I was so like, oh, I was like, grr.

[00:10:00] But I liked this one.

[00:10:01] It was in my head for like days after it came out.

[00:10:04] Like shout out to the songwriters.

[00:10:05] They definitely know what they were doing.

[00:10:07] I wish I knew who did what.

[00:10:09] Cause we're reading these names off.

[00:10:10] Like these are the engineers, the producers, the songwriters for sure.

[00:10:13] But like, we don't know who specifically did what parts,

[00:10:16] especially when it was done in the song camp.

[00:10:18] Cause whoever came with that.

[00:10:20] And the, and the, the, the girls are growing.

[00:10:24] Act like an angel, just like crazy.

[00:10:26] Like people say the girls are growing,

[00:10:28] but to have it in the song, to have something sonically,

[00:10:31] like a soundtrack to the sass.

[00:10:33] We love that.

[00:10:34] The music bounces in such a chic way.

[00:10:36] It's not like a corny bounce.

[00:10:39] And I do appreciate the meaning of the song.

[00:10:41] Like the lyrics about searching for oneself and their purpose,

[00:10:44] but finding confidence in the crazy journey that may also make you go crazy.

[00:10:48] So yeah, I think the thing about this song is like,

[00:10:50] it abandons the traditional vocal performance that we're like expecting

[00:10:54] from girl groups in general.

[00:10:55] Let's be real here.

[00:10:57] But it just relies heavily on the spoken,

[00:11:00] like rapping, rapping style,

[00:11:02] which I think is interesting,

[00:11:03] especially after the song came out,

[00:11:05] it was like right before,

[00:11:07] right after their Coachella performance.

[00:11:09] So like they got through all of this,

[00:11:11] like y'all can't sing,

[00:11:12] y'all can't sing to them to release this song where they're not releasing at all.

[00:11:15] It's not purposeful.

[00:11:16] It's not their fault.

[00:11:17] I'm not making fun of them.

[00:11:18] I just think it's just interesting that the song is about being confident

[00:11:21] in whatever it is that you're living,

[00:11:23] your truth.

[00:11:24] And they just came back from that Coachella performance

[00:11:27] and they're not really singing in this song.

[00:11:28] So that's kind of like my little like,

[00:11:30] hmm,

[00:11:30] they do sing a little bit in the pre's.

[00:11:32] That's cute.

[00:11:33] There's some harmonies here and there with the Galileo moments.

[00:11:36] You know,

[00:11:36] there's some moments.

[00:11:37] I think again,

[00:11:39] this song,

[00:11:39] I feel like would have just been delicious.

[00:11:43] With a bridge.

[00:11:45] Cat's eye.

[00:11:45] I'm like,

[00:11:45] okay,

[00:11:45] fine,

[00:11:46] whatever.

[00:11:46] I'll move on.

[00:11:46] But this song right here,

[00:11:47] just to kind of just give us an ooey gooey,

[00:11:49] like,

[00:11:50] sew it down kind of moment.

[00:11:52] I would have loved a little something.

[00:11:55] I think bridge is going to be my kind of like my thing here for like the most.

[00:11:58] New days had a bridge.

[00:12:00] Yes.

[00:12:00] They did.

[00:12:01] They did.

[00:12:01] Even if it was a little dry,

[00:12:03] a little sicker,

[00:12:04] you know what I'm saying?

[00:12:04] But still they had a bridge.

[00:12:05] Still brought something different.

[00:12:06] Yeah.

[00:12:06] Yeah.

[00:12:06] Yeah.

[00:12:07] Something about that tonal switch up brings the vibes.

[00:12:10] And then brings the vibes.

[00:12:11] I hate that word,

[00:12:12] but it brings a certain element of like,

[00:12:14] where is this going?

[00:12:15] So when the glass chorus comes back and it's like,

[00:12:17] Oh my gosh.

[00:12:18] Yes.

[00:12:19] Explosion.

[00:12:20] But yeah,

[00:12:21] I think I like the remixes.

[00:12:22] The remixes that also come with like the Deshawn remix.

[00:12:25] Love it.

[00:12:26] I mean,

[00:12:26] if you're going to have like something that's very like Vogue inspired,

[00:12:28] why not get someone to actually like MC and like do call outs and stuff?

[00:12:32] I thought that was really fun.

[00:12:33] That's one of my favorite remixes for crazy for sure.

[00:12:36] Yeah.

[00:12:37] Yeah.

[00:12:37] I do think this is the right sonic direction for them to go in.

[00:12:41] This whole just like club music thing.

[00:12:44] Yeah.

[00:12:44] I think it totally works for them in every way,

[00:12:47] you know,

[00:12:47] vocally,

[00:12:48] you know,

[00:12:48] they've gotten a lot of slack this year,

[00:12:51] you know,

[00:12:51] with all the live appearances that they've done and people saying that they

[00:12:55] can't sing,

[00:12:56] which look,

[00:12:57] they're not amazing singers,

[00:12:59] but their songs are not like made to be sung live.

[00:13:04] Well,

[00:13:04] you know,

[00:13:05] and so I feel like it's a bit unfair actually,

[00:13:08] but them going kind of in this more direction where it is just kind of more

[00:13:12] rappy and it is just kind of more about the attitude of it rather than the

[00:13:16] like vocal,

[00:13:17] like melodic execution of it.

[00:13:19] That is definitely the right way to go for them.

[00:13:22] And then we'll get into the visuals and stuff later,

[00:13:24] but I feel like physically they also embody this type of sound pretty well too.

[00:13:29] So yeah,

[00:13:29] just whoever's A&Ring them,

[00:13:31] I think it is making the right decisions for sure.

[00:13:33] Yes.

[00:13:34] But yeah,

[00:13:34] I agree with you.

[00:13:35] I think,

[00:13:35] I think it's fun the way the song is written because you can almost kind of

[00:13:38] hear that there are so many hands in the pot,

[00:13:41] but it all works.

[00:13:42] Oh yeah.

[00:13:42] Right.

[00:13:43] Cause sometimes,

[00:13:44] you know,

[00:13:45] the Franken signing,

[00:13:45] sometimes it's like,

[00:13:46] this is very clearly three different songs that were put together,

[00:13:49] but this one,

[00:13:50] it really is just like,

[00:13:50] Oh,

[00:13:50] they came up with this one line and they came up with this one little hook.

[00:13:53] And then they,

[00:13:54] we're just going to like mash it all together and it totally works.

[00:13:56] And everything is,

[00:13:57] is super fun.

[00:13:59] I like all the little like squeaks in the production,

[00:14:03] the long beep as well.

[00:14:05] Like just the way they have everything kind of pull back and everything and come

[00:14:08] back in.

[00:14:08] It's just super dynamic and fun to listen to.

[00:14:11] And then vocally,

[00:14:12] I think they execute it well.

[00:14:13] Like there's just enough attitude and the moments that were,

[00:14:17] that require a bit more like a,

[00:14:19] of a push,

[00:14:20] uh,

[00:14:20] they give it.

[00:14:21] So I think whoever vocally produced it as well,

[00:14:24] did a good job.

[00:14:25] I definitely think this isn't a song that I would necessarily listen to a

[00:14:30] lot.

[00:14:30] Cause it does feel like it's made for the clubs and like,

[00:14:32] I'm not going to listen to that.

[00:14:33] Like while I'm at work,

[00:14:34] you know what I mean?

[00:14:35] Like it's just,

[00:14:36] this doesn't work for my brain.

[00:14:38] Um,

[00:14:39] but as part of their discography,

[00:14:41] I think it's great.

[00:14:42] And like,

[00:14:42] I totally think this is the right direction for them to head in.

[00:14:45] Word up.

[00:14:46] Word up.

[00:14:46] Okay.

[00:14:47] So when we ran along,

[00:14:49] we have the final player,

[00:14:51] Illet or is it Illet?

[00:14:53] I believe it's Illet.

[00:14:54] Illet.

[00:14:55] Okay.

[00:14:55] Correct us if we're wrong.

[00:14:56] I'm sorry.

[00:14:57] Yeah.

[00:14:57] Sorry.

[00:14:57] Y'all these names are not great.

[00:14:59] Like when we got into K-pop,

[00:15:00] it was all about the number for a minute.

[00:15:02] Um,

[00:15:03] you know,

[00:15:05] or beast with a two.

[00:15:06] Yeah.

[00:15:07] Yeah.

[00:15:08] So we,

[00:15:09] we,

[00:15:09] we went through the number period.

[00:15:10] Y'all going through these like names that are inspired.

[00:15:15] So yes,

[00:15:15] we have Illet with Tic Tac.

[00:15:18] This is done by Johnny Goldstein,

[00:15:20] Sam Martin,

[00:15:22] Hitman Bang,

[00:15:23] D-ball with two H's go off D-ball.

[00:15:25] Soul Rabbit,

[00:15:26] Shinkong,

[00:15:27] Soul Luminati,

[00:15:28] January 8th,

[00:15:29] Jude,

[00:15:30] Na Do Young,

[00:15:30] Chae,

[00:15:31] May,

[00:15:32] Kim Soo-ji,

[00:15:33] Moon Ji Young.

[00:15:34] Jeez.

[00:15:35] Okay.

[00:15:35] So what I'm getting are,

[00:15:36] these are definitely people who are adapting it to Korean.

[00:15:38] Oh,

[00:15:39] I forget.

[00:15:39] These are some songwriters who are doing that.

[00:15:43] So get your royalties,

[00:15:44] y'all.

[00:15:45] How do you feel about this one?

[00:15:46] Cause I remember we talked,

[00:15:48] do we talk about magnetic on the show?

[00:15:50] I actually don't know,

[00:15:51] but I thought magnetic was great.

[00:15:53] Yeah.

[00:15:53] Right.

[00:15:53] It was very fun.

[00:15:54] Yeah.

[00:15:54] I was not a fan of Cherish,

[00:15:56] my love.

[00:15:57] Yeah.

[00:15:58] And this one,

[00:15:59] so I guess it's like their second single from that same EP,

[00:16:02] which is fun.

[00:16:03] I love when,

[00:16:04] when groups actually do this.

[00:16:06] Cause you know,

[00:16:06] it's like,

[00:16:07] there's a reason that,

[00:16:08] you know,

[00:16:09] they're not just besides.

[00:16:11] Yeah.

[00:16:12] Anyway.

[00:16:13] Um,

[00:16:13] this is fun.

[00:16:15] This is definitely not my,

[00:16:17] it's,

[00:16:18] it's not the type of K-pop song that I normally gravitate towards,

[00:16:22] but looking at it less just from my own personal tastes,

[00:16:25] I think it's actually,

[00:16:26] I think it's actually a really good song for what it's doing.

[00:16:31] Right.

[00:16:31] Like it is very young and cute.

[00:16:33] Um,

[00:16:34] but it's not too sugary to the point where I'm like wanting to cringe a lot.

[00:16:39] Uh,

[00:16:40] and all the video gamey-ness of it makes it super,

[00:16:43] super fun.

[00:16:45] Like the way that they sing everything and just the way that it is,

[00:16:48] like it all sounds sped up.

[00:16:50] Cause it's just so fast.

[00:16:52] And then the chorus,

[00:16:52] of course,

[00:16:53] is this,

[00:16:53] this nonsensical thing.

[00:16:57] Yes.

[00:16:57] Which is so much fun.

[00:16:59] Um,

[00:16:59] and fun to listen to it.

[00:17:01] They execute it pretty well.

[00:17:02] Uh,

[00:17:03] and it just sounds like it's a song that should go along with like a

[00:17:07] scrolling,

[00:17:08] like game on your phone.

[00:17:10] Do you know what I mean?

[00:17:11] Yeah.

[00:17:11] It's like,

[00:17:12] as you go through it.

[00:17:13] Yeah.

[00:17:14] Like,

[00:17:14] it's like a cute little thing.

[00:17:16] That's like,

[00:17:16] that you're trying to like do a platform game on.

[00:17:18] Yes.

[00:17:19] This is in the background.

[00:17:20] It just feels like that.

[00:17:22] Yeah.

[00:17:23] so I appreciate it for what it is.

[00:17:24] And I think it's,

[00:17:25] it's definitely unique.

[00:17:26] Like it's memorable for sure.

[00:17:27] We're not.

[00:17:28] It is very,

[00:17:29] very short though.

[00:17:31] Uh,

[00:17:31] like this one,

[00:17:32] I mean,

[00:17:32] we now set it for all the songs,

[00:17:33] but yes,

[00:17:34] this one also could have definitely used an interesting bridge and more of a

[00:17:37] climax at the end.

[00:17:39] Uh,

[00:17:39] I will say the version with Ava Max that they've released recently,

[00:17:42] the English one,

[00:17:43] it does make it a bit cooler.

[00:17:45] It fleshes it out a bit more,

[00:17:47] uh,

[00:17:48] that there's like a heavier synth.

[00:17:49] So it's,

[00:17:50] it's,

[00:17:50] uh,

[00:17:51] no,

[00:17:51] no,

[00:17:51] that version is actually pretty cool.

[00:17:53] I'm curious if they have any other plans for it other than just being

[00:17:55] like even English version with Ava Max.

[00:17:58] Cause that's kind of what happens sometimes with these collaborations.

[00:18:01] I feel like what a waste,

[00:18:02] what a freaking waste.

[00:18:04] I,

[00:18:04] so,

[00:18:05] you know,

[00:18:05] I,

[00:18:05] I have something about video game here too.

[00:18:07] And I said,

[00:18:08] the song reminds me of like the villagers of animal crossing getting

[00:18:11] together.

[00:18:11] And like,

[00:18:12] you know,

[00:18:12] they're not just watching white dog play guitar.

[00:18:15] Like they,

[00:18:15] he's,

[00:18:16] they decided to make their own.

[00:18:17] Yeah.

[00:18:17] Yeah.

[00:18:18] And they're like making the sounds of the automatically of the tic tac.

[00:18:22] Also the song,

[00:18:22] I've heard it got a lot of flack for like how ridiculous it sounds.

[00:18:25] But like,

[00:18:25] if you are an old school,

[00:18:27] like a girl group fan,

[00:18:29] like this is pretty much up the alley of a lot of girl group songs,

[00:18:32] especially like,

[00:18:33] um,

[00:18:34] girls generations,

[00:18:35] Japanese single beep beep.

[00:18:36] Like if you've heard beep beep,

[00:18:38] this is literally that,

[00:18:41] but less high pitch.

[00:18:42] Cause those girls were singing in their,

[00:18:43] uh,

[00:18:44] their head voice going,

[00:18:45] and they had nerves to freaking harmonize,

[00:18:47] which was very SM,

[00:18:49] very SM.

[00:18:49] But the point is that it's a nonsensical chorus,

[00:18:53] you know,

[00:18:54] but it worked for them at the time.

[00:18:56] Um,

[00:18:56] I do appreciate the vocal textures in this song.

[00:18:59] I was so happy to hear some head voice.

[00:19:01] And some chest voice.

[00:19:02] Like there are a lot more texture in this song vocally than in the

[00:19:06] vocals.

[00:19:06] Of the previously mentioned groups.

[00:19:09] Um,

[00:19:09] I would say using gibberish as the chorus is both lazy and clever.

[00:19:14] So lazy,

[00:19:15] but also clever because sometimes,

[00:19:17] because sometimes it is fine and dandy to have the vocals also act as

[00:19:23] the inter and the instrument.

[00:19:24] Like you said,

[00:19:25] it sounded kind of like pitched up and I pitched.

[00:19:27] It sounded really fast because it was a high pitch.

[00:19:32] It sounded like,

[00:19:35] it sounded a little manic,

[00:19:37] but I was kind of here for it.

[00:19:38] And also the,

[00:19:39] the song is also vocally full in my opinion,

[00:19:41] everywhere else,

[00:19:42] like from the verse to verse and even the bridge outro thing.

[00:19:45] I'm annoyed that that bridge outro thing was so abrupt,

[00:19:47] but even there,

[00:19:48] it was just melody after melody,

[00:19:50] blah,

[00:19:50] blah,

[00:19:50] blah.

[00:19:50] Even if it was like super catchy melodies,

[00:19:52] the song was pretty much filled out with vocals.

[00:19:55] So I do appreciate the course was just a lazy,

[00:19:56] the lazy,

[00:19:57] clever part.

[00:19:58] Um,

[00:19:58] I don't know what anyone else could say except tick,

[00:20:00] tack,

[00:20:00] tick,

[00:20:01] tick,

[00:20:01] tick,

[00:20:01] tack.

[00:20:02] Like if they did,

[00:20:03] if they did a B part to that chorus,

[00:20:05] like a post chorus,

[00:20:06] I don't know what it would sound like right now,

[00:20:08] but yeah.

[00:20:09] Um,

[00:20:09] but yeah,

[00:20:09] I would also like to figure out if the song is like just good or if it's

[00:20:12] just annoying enough to be catchy.

[00:20:14] Like the song toes the line of that.

[00:20:16] Like,

[00:20:16] I don't think it's annoying.

[00:20:17] I just thought it was a little strange.

[00:20:18] And I was like,

[00:20:19] you know what?

[00:20:19] You've heard worse than this from second gen.

[00:20:22] And this is actually good.

[00:20:23] So I'm curious to know what like the,

[00:20:26] the non fans think of the song too.

[00:20:28] Cause I can see why people might not like it.

[00:20:30] I guess people really like,

[00:20:31] Oh yeah.

[00:20:32] You know?

[00:20:32] So,

[00:20:33] but I think if you like this type of song though,

[00:20:35] this is great.

[00:20:36] Yeah.

[00:20:37] This is up your alley.

[00:20:38] This is perfect.

[00:20:39] Yeah.

[00:20:39] So there was,

[00:20:40] this totally reminds me there are older,

[00:20:41] like second gen K-pop songs that kind of sound like this.

[00:20:44] Absolutely.

[00:20:47] Like there definitely is an audience for this.

[00:20:51] I'm not that audience,

[00:20:52] but I can appreciate that.

[00:20:54] They're like going for a lane that is less traveled at the moment.

[00:20:59] She's right.

[00:21:00] You're right.

[00:21:00] Listen,

[00:21:01] y'all.

[00:21:02] All four of these songs are pretty different.

[00:21:04] They are.

[00:21:05] They are very different,

[00:21:06] which is,

[00:21:07] it kind of makes this decision a little bit difficult.

[00:21:09] Cause they don't,

[00:21:09] they all have something that is good about them or else they wouldn't have been

[00:21:12] selected as singles,

[00:21:13] but they also have things that the other ones do need.

[00:21:15] It's only one song with bridges with a bridge,

[00:21:18] excuse me,

[00:21:18] but the vocal texture isn't there.

[00:21:21] Vocal texture is there in one song,

[00:21:22] but it ends too shortly.

[00:21:23] You know what I'm saying?

[00:21:24] So,

[00:21:24] uh,

[00:21:25] what do you pick for your winner for this song?

[00:21:27] Oh,

[00:21:28] okay.

[00:21:29] Ooh,

[00:21:29] this is hard.

[00:21:30] Actually.

[00:21:32] If I'm thinking of it as I get to choose to listen to a song right now.

[00:21:35] Yeah.

[00:21:36] I would probably choose how sweet.

[00:21:38] New jeans.

[00:21:39] I figured you would.

[00:21:39] Yeah.

[00:21:40] Yeah.

[00:21:41] I'm going to go with crazy.

[00:21:42] I was Sarah fam.

[00:21:43] I'm going to go with that.

[00:21:44] Okay.

[00:21:45] Yeah.

[00:21:45] That would have been the other one that I would have probably gone for as well.

[00:21:48] Yeah.

[00:21:48] Look at us being two sides of the same coin.

[00:21:50] Yeah.

[00:21:51] All right.

[00:21:52] Fans,

[00:21:52] let us know what wins the round for you.

[00:21:54] Bunnies,

[00:21:55] icons,

[00:21:56] what's a Sarah fam's fan?

[00:21:56] Fear not.

[00:21:57] And then Illits fandom.

[00:21:58] I do not know your name.

[00:21:59] I do apologize.

[00:22:00] But yeah,

[00:22:01] let's let us know what you think in the comments.

[00:22:03] All right.

[00:22:03] Moving right.

[00:22:04] Oh,

[00:22:05] to our second round.

[00:22:07] And this is our music video round.

[00:22:11] Round two.

[00:22:15] And right back to the top with new jeans.

[00:22:17] All right,

[00:22:18] Chris.

[00:22:18] We,

[00:22:19] we,

[00:22:19] this video.

[00:22:23] This video is interesting.

[00:22:25] Pretty on brand for them.

[00:22:26] I would say,

[00:22:26] right?

[00:22:27] Pretty on brand for them.

[00:22:28] Yes.

[00:22:29] I mean,

[00:22:30] I appreciate it because it is kind of like,

[00:22:32] you're just kind of following them on just like a day in the life,

[00:22:35] even though it's like a lot going on in that day of life.

[00:22:37] But,

[00:22:38] uh,

[00:22:39] I don't know.

[00:22:39] Like it,

[00:22:40] it works for the song.

[00:22:41] Cause it's like,

[00:22:42] it's a,

[00:22:43] it's kind of a,

[00:22:44] like,

[00:22:44] oh,

[00:22:44] my life is great.

[00:22:45] Yeah.

[00:22:46] Kind of vibe.

[00:22:47] Yeah.

[00:22:47] And this video does give that.

[00:22:50] And it does feel like their friendship is genuine in it.

[00:22:54] Like when they're laughing together,

[00:22:55] when they're kind of being silly,

[00:22:56] it does feel genuine,

[00:22:58] even if it's,

[00:22:58] you know,

[00:22:59] all planned out,

[00:22:59] but they do a good job with it.

[00:23:01] Um,

[00:23:02] I still feel like,

[00:23:03] and I think I said this last time too,

[00:23:04] that it's just a little shaky and chaotic.

[00:23:08] Cause I,

[00:23:08] I do think it is like,

[00:23:10] you're kind of with them,

[00:23:11] right?

[00:23:11] So it almost feels it's supposed to kind of have that quality.

[00:23:13] Uh,

[00:23:14] but like the drone footage is just doing like the absolute most.

[00:23:18] And so it's just like a little more than I feel like it needs to be because

[00:23:22] somebody,

[00:23:23] but they have like those few seconds of just straight shots of them,

[00:23:26] like dancing on the street in front of the train track and stuff.

[00:23:28] Like,

[00:23:28] it's great.

[00:23:29] Yeah.

[00:23:30] They're killing it.

[00:23:30] Like,

[00:23:30] I don't need the drone,

[00:23:32] like doing all this crazy crap.

[00:23:34] Like around them.

[00:23:36] Uh,

[00:23:37] you know,

[00:23:37] like,

[00:23:37] it's just like a lot,

[00:23:38] uh,

[00:23:39] but overall can't complain about it really.

[00:23:41] Other than that,

[00:23:42] like it is an enjoyable video.

[00:23:43] And I think it matches the song.

[00:23:44] Oh,

[00:23:45] word up.

[00:23:45] Word up.

[00:23:45] Um,

[00:23:46] Oh my goodness.

[00:23:47] So I regret my decision,

[00:23:48] not picking new jeans for my song round.

[00:23:50] I don't know.

[00:23:51] We'll find out.

[00:23:52] Um,

[00:23:52] so yeah,

[00:23:52] once again,

[00:23:54] I will say that the team does a very good job of not making them come

[00:23:58] across as like too juvenile,

[00:24:01] like with certain groups,

[00:24:03] you'll get very cutesy.

[00:24:04] And they don't do that.

[00:24:06] Super tomboy,

[00:24:06] super nineties.

[00:24:08] Um,

[00:24:08] which I appreciate.

[00:24:09] I found a picture of me when I was a kid.

[00:24:11] I was dressed just like this.

[00:24:13] My dad was dressing me.

[00:24:15] And I was looking just like this as a kid.

[00:24:18] I was,

[00:24:18] baby me was swagged out,

[00:24:19] drift out.

[00:24:20] And I appreciate that.

[00:24:21] They look like they're comfortable at their chilling and things like

[00:24:23] that.

[00:24:24] Um,

[00:24:24] I think the stickers and the animal friends and even the product

[00:24:27] placement,

[00:24:28] it all felt natural in the video.

[00:24:30] Um,

[00:24:30] some of the point of views,

[00:24:32] like the POVs came from like the dogs and like the plushies.

[00:24:35] That was cute.

[00:24:36] The second place scene.

[00:24:37] I'm still going to call it the second place scene.

[00:24:38] Cause with all that water,

[00:24:39] it was kind of like,

[00:24:41] kind of spooky or like what it represents like the dark place that

[00:24:43] someone could go to in a breakup.

[00:24:45] Um,

[00:24:46] you know,

[00:24:46] making the freedom a lot more sweeter.

[00:24:47] Like I,

[00:24:48] I like it.

[00:24:48] I like it in the video in the real world.

[00:24:50] It's just,

[00:24:50] I'm trying to figure out how to get out of town,

[00:24:51] but like they keep getting into more toward trouble.

[00:24:54] So I think it's interesting.

[00:24:56] The video does a good job of making it,

[00:24:58] um,

[00:24:58] making you want to keep watching to figure out what's going on,

[00:25:01] but not like creating this whole mythological situation where you're

[00:25:04] like,

[00:25:04] Oh God,

[00:25:04] I have to like watch an old video and watch the next video to figure

[00:25:08] out how it ends.

[00:25:08] Like it ends all in one video,

[00:25:10] which I appreciate.

[00:25:11] So yeah,

[00:25:12] I mean the video is effective.

[00:25:13] It does what it needs to do.

[00:25:14] And it's cute.

[00:25:15] Like you said,

[00:25:15] it was a little chaotic,

[00:25:17] but it does what it needs to do for sure.

[00:25:20] Yes.

[00:25:21] Okay.

[00:25:21] Moving on to cat's eye touch.

[00:25:24] Yes.

[00:25:25] Have your opinions changed at all?

[00:25:27] Um,

[00:25:29] they look great.

[00:25:31] Beautiful gowns,

[00:25:32] beautiful dresses,

[00:25:34] um,

[00:25:34] lovely gowns,

[00:25:36] beautiful dresses.

[00:25:37] Um,

[00:25:37] but yeah,

[00:25:38] no,

[00:25:38] I mean,

[00:25:38] I like that they kept like the dreamy concept for the girls.

[00:25:41] Um,

[00:25:42] Sophia crawling through that event in falling through hysterical.

[00:25:45] Like there's a good level of,

[00:25:48] uh,

[00:25:48] relatable like sequences of getting dressed up.

[00:25:51] It's in the dressing room and like funny,

[00:25:52] subtle humors here and there.

[00:25:54] Um,

[00:25:55] there is a storyline that I'm not,

[00:25:56] I was not trying to fixate on no offense to them or their teammates.

[00:26:00] I could not care.

[00:26:00] Cause I was just like,

[00:26:01] everything else that was happening was stimulating enough.

[00:26:03] Like there was,

[00:26:04] you know,

[00:26:06] SM sound effects,

[00:26:07] like the old school,

[00:26:08] like whoosh,

[00:26:09] whoosh,

[00:26:09] whoosh,

[00:26:09] break,

[00:26:10] you know,

[00:26:11] SM used to be,

[00:26:12] used to be like,

[00:26:12] I'm here for that though.

[00:26:13] You know,

[00:26:13] I love those.

[00:26:14] Exactly.

[00:26:14] So I'm not trying to figure out who went missing.

[00:26:16] I don't care about that girl.

[00:26:18] No offense.

[00:26:18] Um,

[00:26:18] the editing was really cool.

[00:26:20] Laura's face being the CD there,

[00:26:22] pick their pose at the end being the t-shirt,

[00:26:24] like things like that.

[00:26:25] I appreciate.

[00:26:26] Um,

[00:26:27] I love the,

[00:26:28] the,

[00:26:28] I'm trying to figure out like their red or the blue dancing more.

[00:26:31] I don't know which one I liked more,

[00:26:33] but I'd like those scenes.

[00:26:34] They were simple.

[00:26:34] It was simple enough,

[00:26:35] the video,

[00:26:36] but also didn't look super too low.

[00:26:38] But you know what I'm saying?

[00:26:39] Like the cycle is very much like we have no roles to go.

[00:26:41] Let's just film it there.

[00:26:42] But then everything else felt expensive.

[00:26:46] So yeah,

[00:26:47] I mean,

[00:26:48] um,

[00:26:49] do you like this video?

[00:26:49] I feel like you liked it the last time we discussed it,

[00:26:51] right?

[00:26:52] I do like the video.

[00:26:53] I think they do a really good job.

[00:26:55] Like just in terms of their own performance abilities and charisma on camera,

[00:27:00] they kill it.

[00:27:02] Yeah.

[00:27:03] Uh,

[00:27:03] so just that alone,

[00:27:04] I agree with you.

[00:27:05] Like all the stuff about you and Jay missing.

[00:27:08] Don't care.

[00:27:08] No offense.

[00:27:09] Could not care less about that.

[00:27:10] I feel like it's a bizarre to do that with a new group to suddenly have this weird

[00:27:14] lore where one of them is supposedly missing,

[00:27:16] but then she's still in all the dancing core.

[00:27:18] You know what I mean?

[00:27:19] Like she's still in all the regular scenes anyway.

[00:27:21] So it's not even a through story point.

[00:27:23] Like,

[00:27:24] I just,

[00:27:24] I just don't get it.

[00:27:25] Like this does not need,

[00:27:26] they don't need that.

[00:27:27] And I hope that they just pretend it's not a thing for their next videos,

[00:27:31] but of course they will because it's Hybe.

[00:27:33] Um,

[00:27:35] but yeah,

[00:27:35] you know,

[00:27:35] I think again,

[00:27:36] you know,

[00:27:37] it's such a short song.

[00:27:38] So there's not much you can do,

[00:27:39] but I feel like in terms of like a story,

[00:27:42] but they make the most out of everything.

[00:27:43] And there's a lot of memorable moments.

[00:27:45] And that includes a lot of those things that made those or why those sounds are there.

[00:27:50] Yeah.

[00:27:50] Like Laura flicking her tear or her CD that she puts up of her face.

[00:27:55] Like all that was great.

[00:27:57] And,

[00:27:58] uh,

[00:27:58] yeah,

[00:27:58] I think it's effective.

[00:28:00] Like,

[00:28:00] and it has,

[00:28:00] it has replay value too.

[00:28:02] I think it's good.

[00:28:03] uh,

[00:28:04] word.

[00:28:04] Oh,

[00:28:04] it was a very cute video.

[00:28:06] Um,

[00:28:06] so the next day we're talking about is,

[00:28:08] is,

[00:28:08] uh,

[00:28:09] not so cute,

[00:28:09] but it is a little crazy.

[00:28:11] If you will.

[00:28:12] the Sarah Finn's video is a lot to look at.

[00:28:15] This one's super strange.

[00:28:16] Like obviously is done purposely to enhance the crazy.

[00:28:19] Um,

[00:28:20] you have,

[00:28:22] you,

[00:28:22] Yunjin,

[00:28:22] sorry.

[00:28:22] Yunjin,

[00:28:23] uh,

[00:28:24] deflating was hysterical.

[00:28:25] I'm like,

[00:28:25] why?

[00:28:27] And then I tell you,

[00:28:28] I don't remember that happening until I rewatched it for this,

[00:28:30] this review.

[00:28:31] I was like,

[00:28:32] that's hysterical.

[00:28:32] He did deflate the lampshade people dancing and being held at like laser point is hysterical.

[00:28:38] The Steve,

[00:28:39] the Steve Madden heads go.

[00:28:41] Like that was very cute when they had like look really big.

[00:28:45] Um,

[00:28:45] the buffering messages where it was like,

[00:28:47] I mean,

[00:28:47] those things were interesting.

[00:28:49] Um,

[00:28:49] the bathhouse scene with the house of juicy couture is most memorable for a lot of people for good reason.

[00:28:53] Cause like the dancing was really good.

[00:28:55] The energy was really good.

[00:28:56] It's like something about being able to give all the energy in the world,

[00:29:01] but still not take away from the artist is such,

[00:29:04] it's a skill.

[00:29:04] Cause I used to be a dancer that would legit do too much as a background dancer.

[00:29:08] And I look at footage of me now.

[00:29:09] I was like,

[00:29:10] girl,

[00:29:10] I would fire you.

[00:29:13] I would fire you,

[00:29:14] Shan.

[00:29:14] Um,

[00:29:15] but yeah,

[00:29:15] they did a really good job and the girls don't get swallowed up.

[00:29:17] Also that's best based on camera work too.

[00:29:19] Like when the girls were dancing in between the dancers or was her name?

[00:29:23] And she was dancing between the house of juicy and she's in the center.

[00:29:26] They're going off in a circle.

[00:29:28] Didn't really notice because they weren't there to like steal the scene,

[00:29:31] but the camera angle also just made her the focal point.

[00:29:33] I love,

[00:29:34] I think my favorite one is the equipment.

[00:29:36] My favorite dancing is the aquarium dancing with them dancing with the camera flying overhead

[00:29:40] and the bubbles and them wearing like,

[00:29:41] you know,

[00:29:42] checkered casual outfits.

[00:29:43] Cause the other outfits in the bath house was just random,

[00:29:46] like continuations of what they may have been wearing and like the teaser or some crap

[00:29:50] like that.

[00:29:50] But I like the dancing and the aquarium for sure.

[00:29:53] It's like my favorite.

[00:29:53] Yes.

[00:29:54] Yes.

[00:29:54] The aquarium is probably my favorite part too,

[00:29:57] though.

[00:29:57] I mean the whole spa idea is pretty great.

[00:30:00] Like,

[00:30:00] yeah,

[00:30:00] I mean,

[00:30:01] all the scenes are pretty great in here and I love the,

[00:30:04] that blue is just like the color they chose for this song.

[00:30:07] And it's just like very,

[00:30:09] I mean,

[00:30:10] just the blue kind of in various ways,

[00:30:12] which I appreciate.

[00:30:13] Yes.

[00:30:13] Um,

[00:30:14] and it all,

[00:30:16] I complain sometimes about like too many effects in K-pop groups.

[00:30:19] Like even going back to the new jeans one,

[00:30:21] like I don't think all those like animated animals and stuff are really necessary.

[00:30:25] But with this one,

[00:30:26] I think all the surrealism actually works.

[00:30:28] Like the fish coming out of like one of their heads and all,

[00:30:31] and all this stuff you mentioned earlier.

[00:30:32] Like it kind of works because the song has that kind of like,

[00:30:37] I don't know,

[00:30:38] like you,

[00:30:38] you're,

[00:30:38] you're probably on something in the club.

[00:30:40] So it's like,

[00:30:41] makes sense that you might see some like weird stuff.

[00:30:43] I don't know.

[00:30:44] It just kind of works with the vibe of the song.

[00:30:46] Yeah.

[00:30:46] You know?

[00:30:47] Yeah.

[00:30:47] And I love the way they use the Galileo statue as well.

[00:30:49] I thought that was very creative.

[00:30:50] It was very fun.

[00:30:51] Each time that they,

[00:30:52] that they had him kind of show up.

[00:30:54] Yeah.

[00:30:55] Um,

[00:30:56] yeah,

[00:30:56] I think it's just a fun pop video and they execute it really well.

[00:30:59] And I'm glad that,

[00:31:01] you know,

[00:31:02] it got in there.

[00:31:04] I have more thoughts on the overall choreo,

[00:31:05] but we'll get there.

[00:31:07] Yes,

[00:31:07] indeed.

[00:31:08] yes,

[00:31:08] indeed.

[00:31:09] Okay.

[00:31:10] So finally we have player four illet or islet with Tic Tac.

[00:31:15] So what'd you think of this school tennis team situation?

[00:31:22] I was waiting for you to get there.

[00:31:23] I was,

[00:31:23] I want to hear what he comes up with.

[00:31:25] Um,

[00:31:26] yeah,

[00:31:26] the,

[00:31:26] I literally have the tennis school concept.

[00:31:29] It's fun.

[00:31:30] Um,

[00:31:31] I love that.

[00:31:31] That's why I was like,

[00:31:32] Oh,

[00:31:32] I'm going to say,

[00:31:33] if you're going to say all the words I put,

[00:31:34] um,

[00:31:35] the bullet time scenes are so cool in that beginning.

[00:31:37] I love the,

[00:31:39] for people who don't understand the concept of bullet time.

[00:31:41] If you've ever seen the matrix or like seeing people kind of move in slow motion,

[00:31:44] that's technically considered like a bullet time kind of like edit when things are moving so fast,

[00:31:51] but so slow to the human eye.

[00:31:53] I don't know.

[00:31:53] I don't know.

[00:31:54] Maybe I reversed it.

[00:31:55] It's moving slow to the person who was in the bullet time,

[00:31:58] but the bullets going really fast in actual time.

[00:31:59] There we go.

[00:32:01] So yeah,

[00:32:01] I like to see that because you have tennis balls flying everywhere.

[00:32:04] You have the girls,

[00:32:05] three girls in the fork in the background dancing.

[00:32:08] They looked like they were frozen at first and then they start dancing.

[00:32:10] You have a couple of the other,

[00:32:12] two other girls like in the foreground singing and performing to the camera.

[00:32:16] So it's nice to look at the room transitions at the end of the song.

[00:32:20] I love those so much.

[00:32:22] The room going into another room,

[00:32:23] going into another room,

[00:32:24] going into another room,

[00:32:25] going into the locker where they're like miniature versions of themselves.

[00:32:28] That was so stinking cute.

[00:32:30] And if you look at the video,

[00:32:31] at first I didn't understand what some,

[00:32:33] some of the scenes like them being in a room with a pile of like dirty clothes.

[00:32:36] You,

[00:32:36] you see,

[00:32:37] have you seen Halloween town where that guy was like,

[00:32:40] this is where all the trash comes when you're looking for something.

[00:32:42] It comes here.

[00:32:43] That's what it reminded me of.

[00:32:45] But literally in the song,

[00:32:46] they say something about like getting dressed or like the dressing room.

[00:32:49] So that,

[00:32:49] that's their version of,

[00:32:50] Hey,

[00:32:50] I'm getting dressed.

[00:32:51] I have nothing to wear.

[00:32:52] I mean,

[00:32:52] if you guys can see my room right now,

[00:32:54] there's clothes on the floor.

[00:32:55] Cause I went to a concert and threw crap on the floor looking for a shirt.

[00:32:58] Okay.

[00:32:59] So it happens.

[00:33:00] I,

[00:33:00] it happens.

[00:33:00] It makes sense to the song and the video.

[00:33:02] But yeah,

[00:33:03] I liked that.

[00:33:03] It was kind of interwoven with a slight love story because you know,

[00:33:09] it's K-pop.

[00:33:09] We can't say love story,

[00:33:10] but there was a cute little narrative.

[00:33:12] Of a girl liking a guy and trying to,

[00:33:14] you know,

[00:33:14] catch his eye.

[00:33:16] Yeah.

[00:33:16] And that makes it a little bit more natural as opposed to just like bullet

[00:33:19] time,

[00:33:20] tennis balls,

[00:33:20] miniature girls in the locker room.

[00:33:22] The dance scenes were interesting because it kept just getting more and

[00:33:25] more intense.

[00:33:26] Like it would start out with the girls dancing.

[00:33:28] And then suddenly there was like a whole army of kids doing it.

[00:33:30] And I thought,

[00:33:31] okay,

[00:33:31] I like this.

[00:33:32] This is kind of funny.

[00:33:33] It felt like a strange dream.

[00:33:35] And I also liked this video a lot more than magnetic where they look like,

[00:33:38] like almost too mature with all that weave and like white Victoria's secret pajamas.

[00:33:43] Oh yeah.

[00:33:44] Silk pajamas.

[00:33:44] I wasn't into that,

[00:33:45] but this I like.

[00:33:47] Yeah.

[00:33:47] This fits their age for sure.

[00:33:49] I do.

[00:33:51] Yeah.

[00:33:51] I,

[00:33:52] I enjoy it.

[00:33:53] I almost feel like again though,

[00:33:54] like there were just like,

[00:33:56] I must feel like there were actually too many scenes.

[00:33:58] Like,

[00:33:58] I feel like it was a little unnecessary.

[00:33:59] Like if they kept a more of it just on the tennis court or in the locker rooms and

[00:34:03] stuff and kept it more just after school tennis situation,

[00:34:07] as opposed to just random school scenes,

[00:34:10] I think it would have maybe been more effective.

[00:34:13] Cause then you just think more,

[00:34:15] like you,

[00:34:16] then you'll always associate tennis with this video.

[00:34:17] And I don't,

[00:34:18] it never got to that point.

[00:34:19] Right.

[00:34:20] Cause they didn't go like all out with a tennis thing.

[00:34:22] Yes.

[00:34:22] Which I feel like they could have just to kind of get it in your brain a little

[00:34:26] bit more.

[00:34:27] Yes.

[00:34:27] I will say performance wise,

[00:34:29] I was very worried that they would be too cute with it.

[00:34:34] Cause you know,

[00:34:36] I don't love that.

[00:34:37] Like when,

[00:34:38] when people just their faces and they're like,

[00:34:41] their eyes are huge.

[00:34:42] Yeah.

[00:34:43] And they can't like,

[00:34:43] they can,

[00:34:44] they have to kind of keep a smile the entire time.

[00:34:47] And it just feels very fake and robotic.

[00:34:49] Yeah.

[00:34:49] And they kind of do that in some of their other videos and stuff.

[00:34:53] But this one I think was actually a little more balanced.

[00:34:57] They definitely,

[00:34:57] some numbers do it more than others.

[00:35:00] But overall,

[00:35:01] they weren't too overboard with the cutesy this time,

[00:35:03] which was good.

[00:35:04] I appreciated that for sure.

[00:35:06] Right.

[00:35:06] And yeah,

[00:35:07] I was entertained the whole time.

[00:35:08] Like I thought a lot of the scenes were cool.

[00:35:10] Like the one of them,

[00:35:11] like dancing on that platform in the sky and on the camera,

[00:35:14] just pans all the way around them.

[00:35:15] And it goes from day to night.

[00:35:17] Yeah.

[00:35:18] That's cute.

[00:35:18] Like,

[00:35:19] yeah,

[00:35:19] I thought,

[00:35:19] I thought all the little things were fun.

[00:35:21] I do think,

[00:35:22] like I said,

[00:35:23] there were certain moments where I was like,

[00:35:24] that we didn't need them.

[00:35:25] Like the whole,

[00:35:26] like zoom in of them in different rooms and stuff near the end.

[00:35:28] I was like,

[00:35:29] okay,

[00:35:29] like this is like a little unnecessary.

[00:35:30] Like you did not need to put this much effort into all of these effects and stuff.

[00:35:36] That's the part I liked the most.

[00:35:38] Oh,

[00:35:38] really?

[00:35:38] I mean,

[00:35:39] I feel like it just didn't match the rest of the video though.

[00:35:41] No,

[00:35:41] it didn't because they were in the locker,

[00:35:42] but it just brought them back to like,

[00:35:44] you know,

[00:35:44] ground zero.

[00:35:45] That's why.

[00:35:46] I mean,

[00:35:46] sure.

[00:35:47] I don't know.

[00:35:47] I think I just wanted the tennis thing just to be the underlying thing the whole time.

[00:35:51] That would have been cute.

[00:35:52] That would have been cuter.

[00:35:53] I agree.

[00:35:53] That's just so funny though.

[00:35:54] Yeah.

[00:35:55] I don't know.

[00:35:55] I more actually just noticed,

[00:35:57] like,

[00:35:57] I feel like all five of them are actually pretty good performers.

[00:36:00] They all have a unique look to them as well,

[00:36:02] which is,

[00:36:03] yeah,

[00:36:03] I mean,

[00:36:03] that's tough.

[00:36:04] Like in such a saturated market to have all your members stand out like that.

[00:36:07] So I don't know.

[00:36:09] I think they have potential for sure.

[00:36:10] I really don't know much about them.

[00:36:12] But like I said,

[00:36:13] I think there's a lane for them.

[00:36:15] Yes.

[00:36:15] Not mad at it.

[00:36:16] Okay.

[00:36:16] So what wins for you in the video round?

[00:36:19] Oh,

[00:36:20] this is kind of tough.

[00:36:23] Cause again,

[00:36:23] the videos are not bad.

[00:36:25] They're all good in their own way.

[00:36:26] I think it's between two for me.

[00:36:28] Sorry.

[00:36:31] I do believe it's in between two for me though.

[00:36:33] I would say,

[00:36:35] Hmm.

[00:36:40] I'm going to give it to Seraphim once again.

[00:36:44] It was a very close second,

[00:36:45] a second,

[00:36:46] but I think I like Seraphim's video a little bit more.

[00:36:48] It kind of encapsulates everything that the other girls are doing in their video,

[00:36:52] but it's a little bit more cohesive.

[00:36:54] Yeah.

[00:36:54] I would do the Seraphim crazy as well.

[00:36:58] I think there's just so much to watch.

[00:37:01] And it's just very,

[00:37:02] I don't know.

[00:37:03] I think the whole thing is just more,

[00:37:06] the most entertaining,

[00:37:07] I guess,

[00:37:08] out of the four.

[00:37:09] Yes,

[00:37:09] yes,

[00:37:09] yes.

[00:37:10] Yeah.

[00:37:10] All right.

[00:37:11] Wow.

[00:37:12] The Seraphim is kicking some butt on my end.

[00:37:14] I'm sorry.

[00:37:17] Will they win the next round though?

[00:37:19] We'll see.

[00:37:20] And the final round is the performance and choreography portion.

[00:37:24] Woo.

[00:37:26] Round three.

[00:37:29] All right.

[00:37:29] And we're back up with new jeans and how sweet.

[00:37:32] All right.

[00:37:33] So we did talk about this.

[00:37:34] I think we both kind of had that same sentiment where it was like,

[00:37:36] I want to learn this.

[00:37:38] Hell yes.

[00:37:38] I'm sad.

[00:37:39] I haven't yet.

[00:37:40] I know.

[00:37:41] We've kind of goofed a little bit,

[00:37:42] but it's all good.

[00:37:43] They have so much swagger and I appreciate the train that they have undergone for sure.

[00:37:48] Like if you look at this choreography,

[00:37:49] it is not,

[00:37:52] this is not easy choreography.

[00:37:54] I thought it was because they're kind of just like,

[00:37:56] yeah,

[00:37:57] they're just kind of just,

[00:37:57] yeah,

[00:37:58] and gobbin' and chillin'.

[00:38:00] It looks effortless,

[00:38:01] but it's not like literally the transitions in this dance are so,

[00:38:05] they're so smooth,

[00:38:06] but they're annoying.

[00:38:07] They're annoying because you have to turn and then groove.

[00:38:10] You got to stay in the groove because if you lose the groove,

[00:38:13] honey,

[00:38:13] it's over for you.

[00:38:14] They're gliding in one groove.

[00:38:16] And I'm like,

[00:38:16] oh my God.

[00:38:17] Like to get people to learn how to glide in one way is getting people to do it to the right.

[00:38:22] Okay.

[00:38:23] Getting them to do it to the left and then turn.

[00:38:25] It's not easy to learn how to glide.

[00:38:27] Like no one glides anymore.

[00:38:29] No one does.

[00:38:29] I can barely glide.

[00:38:31] That's the one thing I could do,

[00:38:33] but I can only go to the right and in a circle toward the right.

[00:38:36] I mean to the left.

[00:38:36] Oh,

[00:38:37] actually you're right.

[00:38:37] I can do,

[00:38:38] I'm better on the right as well.

[00:38:39] Going to the right.

[00:38:40] You can do,

[00:38:40] see?

[00:38:41] But these girls are sitting there.

[00:38:43] I know.

[00:38:44] Dude,

[00:38:45] this choreo is amazing.

[00:38:46] So yeah,

[00:38:47] this choreography made me wish I was in this group.

[00:38:50] I wish that Hayin is my favorite to watch,

[00:38:52] which is kind of like,

[00:38:52] it sucks because she was injured,

[00:38:53] I think around the time.

[00:38:54] Yeah.

[00:38:55] When they were performing.

[00:38:56] But there's one practice video.

[00:38:57] She's just in the middle.

[00:38:58] She's been doing the Japan promo though.

[00:39:00] She's been in there.

[00:39:01] It makes me happy.

[00:39:02] But like,

[00:39:02] I wish she was able to perform it because she really is like there.

[00:39:08] I don't know,

[00:39:09] but she's got something there and I appreciate watching her for sure.

[00:39:11] Everyone else does a really good job.

[00:39:13] Of course,

[00:39:13] of course.

[00:39:13] But something about Hayin and Mbigo,

[00:39:15] hmm,

[00:39:16] I wish you were here.

[00:39:17] You're eating this up.

[00:39:18] I think the girls said it too when she wasn't there.

[00:39:20] They're like,

[00:39:20] she's just,

[00:39:21] she just adds something and she does.

[00:39:23] So I like this dance very,

[00:39:25] very much.

[00:39:26] It's,

[00:39:26] I like the little arms too.

[00:39:28] My arms don't go super straight,

[00:39:29] but I wish they did for this dance.

[00:39:30] Like,

[00:39:31] so cute.

[00:39:32] Oh,

[00:39:32] this choreo is so cool.

[00:39:34] It's so,

[00:39:34] so cool.

[00:39:35] I,

[00:39:36] this makes me like,

[00:39:36] cause house was always something I wanted to train in.

[00:39:41] And this isn't exactly house,

[00:39:42] but it has house elements and kind of the way you're kind of in that jack,

[00:39:46] like the whole time.

[00:39:47] And,

[00:39:48] um,

[00:39:49] it,

[00:39:49] like you said,

[00:39:49] it's tough.

[00:39:50] And the way that they did it,

[00:39:52] like they make it look so loose and relaxed and they each kind of put their own flavor in it.

[00:39:57] Like it's so well executed.

[00:39:59] I watched so,

[00:40:00] I watched,

[00:40:01] I think every performance that exists of this song and I'm not bored of it at all.

[00:40:06] Like they,

[00:40:06] they kill this.

[00:40:08] Yeah.

[00:40:09] Um,

[00:40:09] and it actually does allow them to sing it live relatively comfortably as well,

[00:40:14] because,

[00:40:14] because they're not really going like a hundred percent,

[00:40:17] like at all the whole time.

[00:40:18] They're just kind of keeping that bounce going.

[00:40:20] Yeah.

[00:40:21] Yeah.

[00:40:21] And they're able to,

[00:40:22] to execute,

[00:40:23] which is,

[00:40:23] which is awesome.

[00:40:24] Also,

[00:40:25] there's so many formation changes.

[00:40:26] Like literally they change formation every like four counts.

[00:40:29] Yeah.

[00:40:30] And it's all just so smooth.

[00:40:32] Like I was watching,

[00:40:33] I was trying to watch performance,

[00:40:34] just looking at the formation changes.

[00:40:36] And I was like trying to remember that must be crazy.

[00:40:40] Cause all the,

[00:40:41] also the little subtle changes too,

[00:40:43] where like a whole section might be the same as before,

[00:40:45] except for one move,

[00:40:46] you know,

[00:40:46] or like you just have to remember you're actually over here instead of over.

[00:40:49] I'm like,

[00:40:49] that's crazy.

[00:40:51] Like they hill this,

[00:40:54] like this dance should be like one of those tests in dance school or something.

[00:40:59] I'm like,

[00:40:59] whether you've like mastered,

[00:41:01] mastered the style.

[00:41:03] Like it's insane.

[00:41:04] I love this so much.

[00:41:06] Yeah.

[00:41:06] Yeah,

[00:41:07] absolutely.

[00:41:08] Oh my goodness.

[00:41:08] So just taking it from something so technically challenging to something a little bit more about the charisma and the shapes.

[00:41:16] Let's get into touch with the finger tapping.

[00:41:18] Yeah.

[00:41:19] So even before I got,

[00:41:21] we got into it,

[00:41:21] I think you were like,

[00:41:22] I really liked the finger tapping.

[00:41:23] Like I think I do.

[00:41:24] Every time we talk about cats,

[00:41:25] like this is the first thing that you do.

[00:41:27] Oh,

[00:41:28] every time I think,

[00:41:29] the finger taps are great.

[00:41:31] Um,

[00:41:31] I want to assume that they still,

[00:41:33] so he did it right.

[00:41:34] So,

[00:41:34] Hey,

[00:41:34] so,

[00:41:35] Hey,

[00:41:35] so,

[00:41:35] Hey,

[00:41:35] so,

[00:41:36] Hey,

[00:41:36] and I forget who the other man's name was,

[00:41:38] but sorry,

[00:41:39] darling.

[00:41:39] But yes,

[00:41:39] you did a very good job.

[00:41:41] Um,

[00:41:41] but yeah,

[00:41:42] I love how the moves are not too commercial.

[00:41:44] Um,

[00:41:45] I mean,

[00:41:45] every time this song comes on,

[00:41:46] I think I'm in the group.

[00:41:48] I said,

[00:41:48] touch,

[00:41:48] touch,

[00:41:49] think about it.

[00:41:49] Way to pop that booty.

[00:41:51] Yeah.

[00:41:51] I love the little booty pop.

[00:41:52] It's so cute.

[00:41:53] Like,

[00:41:53] it's so cute.

[00:41:54] Um,

[00:41:55] I do hate the formation sometime when they have Manon or whoever is that sixth,

[00:42:01] that sixth member in the back.

[00:42:02] Um,

[00:42:03] there are better ways to make a good shape.

[00:42:06] Well,

[00:42:06] they've done so many performances as a five.

[00:42:08] It made it easier to adapt.

[00:42:10] Ooh,

[00:42:11] Jesus,

[00:42:11] honey.

[00:42:12] Can I tell you?

[00:42:14] This is one group.

[00:42:15] I just can't stay healthy.

[00:42:16] I don't know what's going on.

[00:42:18] I love them so much,

[00:42:19] but they stay sick.

[00:42:20] And I'm like,

[00:42:21] what's up girls.

[00:42:21] What is happening?

[00:42:23] Y'all are unwell.

[00:42:24] I mean,

[00:42:24] an idol or a pop star schedule is not easy.

[00:42:27] And they're,

[00:42:28] they're not like a laid back girl group.

[00:42:30] They're like,

[00:42:30] we look really good.

[00:42:31] We have to look good at all times.

[00:42:32] We're dancing,

[00:42:33] singing girl group.

[00:42:34] So I could understand.

[00:42:35] Like if you get sick,

[00:42:36] there is a game question mark,

[00:42:38] but yes,

[00:42:40] performing.

[00:42:41] Look,

[00:42:41] they barely sung live.

[00:42:42] There's been a few and they've actually sounded good,

[00:42:44] but let's just be real here.

[00:42:45] No,

[00:42:46] that's valid.

[00:42:46] That's valid.

[00:42:47] Um,

[00:42:47] but yeah,

[00:42:47] I like that.

[00:42:48] They're not super intricate in the choreography.

[00:42:51] Um,

[00:42:51] there's some movement that's very like picture making from the beginning to the

[00:42:55] end.

[00:42:55] It's picture,

[00:42:56] picture,

[00:42:56] picture,

[00:42:56] picture,

[00:42:56] picture.

[00:42:57] Um,

[00:42:58] I think the,

[00:42:59] the skipping that I used to complain about,

[00:43:00] about Sophia and Laura doing in that second verse,

[00:43:02] I've gotten over it.

[00:43:03] I was like,

[00:43:04] you know what?

[00:43:04] I do wish she would have strutted while she was singing and the other girls

[00:43:08] skip,

[00:43:08] but I've gotten over it.

[00:43:09] The too young to waste my time to,

[00:43:11] you know,

[00:43:12] that part.

[00:43:12] I got over it.

[00:43:13] I'm over it.

[00:43:14] Um,

[00:43:16] it's,

[00:43:16] it's cute.

[00:43:17] It makes sense of them kind of running.

[00:43:18] Now I get it.

[00:43:19] Um,

[00:43:20] but yeah,

[00:43:21] the,

[00:43:22] the performances,

[00:43:23] um,

[00:43:25] have been good for the most part,

[00:43:28] I would say.

[00:43:29] Um,

[00:43:30] what really pisses me off is that because they're using a backtrack,

[00:43:33] if the wrong freaking files being played and the mics are not on or yeah.

[00:43:40] Yeah.

[00:43:41] So I've seen,

[00:43:41] I've seen them perform at a mall and the music skipped.

[00:43:43] I've seen someone perform the wrong song and,

[00:43:46] and then give eyes to the DJ.

[00:43:47] And I'm like,

[00:43:47] no,

[00:43:48] no,

[00:43:48] no,

[00:43:48] no,

[00:43:48] no,

[00:43:48] no,

[00:43:48] no.

[00:43:48] This should be one of those things where you guys should be able to get on

[00:43:51] the mic and say something to the crowd.

[00:43:54] Instead of giving dirty looks to the guy,

[00:43:56] you know,

[00:43:56] like,

[00:43:56] Oh,

[00:43:57] whoever is like getting their musical performances together.

[00:44:00] It's irritating me just a little bit.

[00:44:02] Give these girls a chance to actually perform that.

[00:44:04] And I'm annoyed that their Vivo performance was without a band and it was

[00:44:06] just full of them dancing.

[00:44:07] Have you seen?

[00:44:08] Oh,

[00:44:08] I know that was their chance to do something a little different with both of

[00:44:11] those songs.

[00:44:12] Yes.

[00:44:13] Yes.

[00:44:13] I completely agree.

[00:44:14] Like mama,

[00:44:14] you guys ate that crap up,

[00:44:16] ate it up,

[00:44:17] ate it,

[00:44:18] the F up.

[00:44:19] And then you get to Vivo and you have to dance in this small cramped

[00:44:23] space with no band.

[00:44:25] I would have preferred them to stand next to each other,

[00:44:27] harmonizing,

[00:44:28] having the band behind them.

[00:44:29] And then the last chorus,

[00:44:31] go the F off if you need to,

[00:44:32] you can always edit it.

[00:44:34] You can always edit it.

[00:44:35] I mean,

[00:44:36] also you're a group,

[00:44:37] like while the one person is singing their chorus line,

[00:44:40] like the rest of you can do the dance.

[00:44:42] Like it's really not that hard to adapt to.

[00:44:44] I agree with you.

[00:44:45] I was most disappointed with those as well.

[00:44:46] But yeah,

[00:44:47] the mama performance though.

[00:44:48] So good,

[00:44:49] right?

[00:44:49] Oh,

[00:44:50] delicious.

[00:44:51] Oh man.

[00:44:52] I've watched it like five or six times and it's just that,

[00:44:54] that dance break.

[00:44:55] Oh my God.

[00:44:56] In between the songs.

[00:44:57] Yeah.

[00:44:58] It's just absolutely insane.

[00:45:00] Also,

[00:45:01] I do have to shout out you and Shay.

[00:45:03] Cause I did shade her a bit in our other video.

[00:45:06] Cause I didn't fully get why she got put in the group.

[00:45:10] I told you,

[00:45:10] right?

[00:45:10] Yeah.

[00:45:11] She is killing it.

[00:45:13] She's one of those like sleeper cells.

[00:45:15] It's like,

[00:45:15] okay.

[00:45:15] Cause you know what it was is I think you can tell she has idol training,

[00:45:20] like previous idol training.

[00:45:21] Yeah.

[00:45:22] In that.

[00:45:22] And this is what I was saying about like Islet and stuff before.

[00:45:25] Yeah.

[00:45:26] Sometimes in her eyes,

[00:45:27] it just looked a little fake.

[00:45:29] It just felt a little disingenuous.

[00:45:30] No connection.

[00:45:31] No connections.

[00:45:32] Yeah.

[00:45:32] And I didn't feel that she was on the same page as the rest.

[00:45:36] Like she felt removed from whatever like energy level.

[00:45:41] The rest of them are on.

[00:45:42] Like she was not in that same place.

[00:45:44] Now though,

[00:45:45] I think with time,

[00:45:46] I think it's adapted better.

[00:45:48] And I think she,

[00:45:49] she works better.

[00:45:50] Like,

[00:45:50] I feel like before it did really feel like a Korean girl with other

[00:45:53] foreign girls.

[00:45:54] Like that's honest.

[00:45:55] That's how I saw it.

[00:45:56] Like it just,

[00:45:57] she didn't gel.

[00:45:59] But now I think she's got it.

[00:46:01] And it feels more natural.

[00:46:02] Yeah.

[00:46:03] Her facial expressions and stuff don't feel as planned and trying too

[00:46:07] hard as they used to.

[00:46:09] Valid,

[00:46:10] So yeah.

[00:46:10] Yeah.

[00:46:11] She's,

[00:46:11] she's killing it.

[00:46:12] Thanks for explaining.

[00:46:13] Cause I didn't want icons like,

[00:46:15] No,

[00:46:16] you can come for me if you want,

[00:46:17] but that was my first opinion when I saw them perform like their

[00:46:20] first couple times.

[00:46:22] No,

[00:46:22] that's super valid.

[00:46:23] That's what I caught that too.

[00:46:24] Like the chemistry was just kind of lacking a bit,

[00:46:26] but I was like,

[00:46:26] she has something.

[00:46:28] I'm like,

[00:46:28] you have to look,

[00:46:29] you have to look,

[00:46:29] but no,

[00:46:30] the mama blows out the performance.

[00:46:31] I was referencing too,

[00:46:32] like months ago.

[00:46:33] I mean,

[00:46:33] that performance,

[00:46:34] like if anyone needs to be convinced of their potential and star quality,

[00:46:38] like just show them that honestly,

[00:46:40] they kill that.

[00:46:42] So good.

[00:46:44] Disgusting.

[00:46:44] Shout out to Danny in her hips.

[00:46:46] She said,

[00:46:47] Oh my gosh.

[00:46:49] And then the split,

[00:46:49] honey,

[00:46:50] we could,

[00:46:50] we could,

[00:46:50] I could go on,

[00:46:51] but yeah.

[00:46:53] Delicious ladies.

[00:46:54] Delicious.

[00:46:55] All right.

[00:46:55] Moving on to some deliciousness.

[00:46:56] As we're going right into crazy with choreography.

[00:46:59] That was Vogue inspired.

[00:47:01] Um,

[00:47:03] I will say for it to be inspired and kind of cherry pick certain motions.

[00:47:08] It made sense.

[00:47:10] Like some of the hand,

[00:47:11] um,

[00:47:12] voguing was very like new wavy,

[00:47:14] nothing too crazy,

[00:47:15] but shapes that fans could look,

[00:47:17] I'd be like,

[00:47:17] Oh my God,

[00:47:17] that's not a typical K-pop girl move.

[00:47:19] That's not a typical commercial move.

[00:47:20] Yeah.

[00:47:21] Um,

[00:47:21] so I appreciate that.

[00:47:23] Um,

[00:47:24] I appreciate the duck walk,

[00:47:26] the couple before count that we got.

[00:47:29] Feel bad for her.

[00:47:30] She was probably so mad that she was the one chosen to do that.

[00:47:33] Duck walks are not easy.

[00:47:35] No,

[00:47:35] and the shoes that she gets for some of those performances.

[00:47:38] Come on.

[00:47:39] Like,

[00:47:39] that's not right.

[00:47:43] I,

[00:47:44] even,

[00:47:44] I know that,

[00:47:45] you know what I mean?

[00:47:45] Like,

[00:47:46] come on.

[00:47:48] This is one of those things where the stylists have the best intentions,

[00:47:51] but they were not talking to the choreographers at all.

[00:47:55] But yeah,

[00:47:55] I'm just glad that the choreography was not super intense because they really need to sing.

[00:48:00] Especially with all that controversy that happened at Coachella.

[00:48:03] Don't get me wrong.

[00:48:03] I think a lot of the clips with Coachella was spliced together just unfairly.

[00:48:07] But from what we saw,

[00:48:08] these are your singles that you're performing.

[00:48:10] You're not performing to your best abilities.

[00:48:11] Yeah.

[00:48:12] You do deserve to get clocked.

[00:48:13] I would want someone to say,

[00:48:14] Hey,

[00:48:14] Shane,

[00:48:14] you didn't do that right.

[00:48:15] If I sang something wrong,

[00:48:16] because it's only going to make me better.

[00:48:18] Um,

[00:48:18] when I was watching some of their live performances,

[00:48:20] like they looked confident.

[00:48:21] They looked like they were having fun.

[00:48:23] Um,

[00:48:24] but with the mics on completely,

[00:48:25] I wouldn't say,

[00:48:26] but when they were on and we could catch like hot mics when they were hot,

[00:48:29] I did hear vocals and it didn't sound like they were fighting for their lives.

[00:48:32] So I'll,

[00:48:33] I'll take what I can get.

[00:48:34] It's not an easy dance to do,

[00:48:36] but it's also not super,

[00:48:38] super difficult.

[00:48:39] It's about the shapes.

[00:48:41] It's about the feel.

[00:48:42] And I think they do a good job of translating that onto the screen.

[00:48:46] You know what I'm saying?

[00:48:46] So if I saw them live in performance,

[00:48:48] I think I would be able to believe that they're actually feeling what they're

[00:48:51] performing and not just doing a bunch of eight counts given to them.

[00:48:53] Yeah.

[00:48:54] Whereas with some other performances,

[00:48:55] like any fragile,

[00:48:56] they were freaking fighting for their lives.

[00:48:58] Yes.

[00:48:58] You know what I'm saying?

[00:48:59] Like they were fighting for their lives to be like,

[00:49:01] yes,

[00:49:01] they're giving it to you,

[00:49:02] but there's so much going on in that dance just to show off.

[00:49:06] But this one,

[00:49:07] it's just confident and quiet.

[00:49:08] And I believe it a lot more.

[00:49:10] Yes.

[00:49:11] That's totally valid.

[00:49:13] Yeah.

[00:49:14] Cause yeah,

[00:49:14] a lot of this,

[00:49:15] I appreciate it was just them posing.

[00:49:18] Yep.

[00:49:18] Or like doing like little things on their own.

[00:49:21] Um,

[00:49:21] which was just fun.

[00:49:22] Yeah.

[00:49:22] It just made it fun.

[00:49:23] I will say when all the hype was coming out before about it being Vogue

[00:49:28] inspired,

[00:49:28] that did set my expectations higher than they probably should have been.

[00:49:32] Yes.

[00:49:33] Uh,

[00:49:33] cause I think maybe I was hoping for at least one,

[00:49:36] you know,

[00:49:37] maybe like section of just like two to four,

[00:49:40] eight counts of like proper Vogue.

[00:49:42] Yes.

[00:49:43] Give me a catwalk,

[00:49:44] Give me a dip.

[00:49:45] Like,

[00:49:45] and give me like full,

[00:49:47] yeah.

[00:49:47] Give me like,

[00:49:48] I don't know.

[00:49:51] Yeah.

[00:49:51] More hands.

[00:49:52] New wave would have been their thing.

[00:49:54] New wave would have been their thing.

[00:49:55] Not the old school.

[00:49:56] I think they could probably execute it.

[00:49:58] Like maybe you need a couple extra weeks of just like learning the,

[00:50:01] you know,

[00:50:02] the craft and the base of it.

[00:50:03] Yeah.

[00:50:04] But I feel like if you're going to tease this whole thing that it's Vogue

[00:50:07] inspired,

[00:50:07] like I did actually want something at least a moment that was more

[00:50:11] technical.

[00:50:12] Yeah,

[00:50:12] I agree.

[00:50:13] I agree.

[00:50:13] That's where a bridge would have helped or a dance break.

[00:50:16] Yeah,

[00:50:17] that's true.

[00:50:18] Yeah.

[00:50:18] You know,

[00:50:19] like taking,

[00:50:19] not taking that into account.

[00:50:21] The choreo is great.

[00:50:21] Like it's super,

[00:50:22] super clean.

[00:50:23] Like you said,

[00:50:23] there's,

[00:50:23] there's simplicity to it.

[00:50:25] Like the most effective parts were just them doing like the

[00:50:27] shoulders.

[00:50:28] Yeah.

[00:50:28] And like the,

[00:50:29] you know,

[00:50:30] the parts where they're kind of just like standing there together.

[00:50:33] Yeah.

[00:50:33] Yeah.

[00:50:34] Yeah.

[00:50:36] Yeah.

[00:50:37] So there were a lot of like little fun moments in it,

[00:50:39] which I appreciate.

[00:50:41] In terms for,

[00:50:42] honestly,

[00:50:43] for them,

[00:50:44] I don't really care that much about live vocals.

[00:50:46] Honestly,

[00:50:46] you know what?

[00:50:47] Yes.

[00:50:48] When you have your expectations at a reasonable level.

[00:50:50] Yeah.

[00:50:51] Like if you,

[00:50:51] if that's just not your strength,

[00:50:53] you know,

[00:50:53] we,

[00:50:53] we talk about Brittany all the time,

[00:50:55] right?

[00:50:55] Brittany is usually the one people reference when it comes to,

[00:50:58] you know,

[00:50:58] just kind of lip syncing for the most of your career.

[00:51:01] Yeah.

[00:51:02] You know,

[00:51:02] but if you're giving your all kind of in every other way.

[00:51:06] Yes.

[00:51:06] And just singing live is just really not your strength.

[00:51:10] And it actually takes away from the performance.

[00:51:14] Yeah.

[00:51:15] It's fine.

[00:51:16] Yeah.

[00:51:16] It's fine.

[00:51:17] the thing is,

[00:51:18] I just don't feel the same way about like Cat's Eye,

[00:51:21] for example,

[00:51:21] because we know they can execute.

[00:51:23] Very well.

[00:51:24] Yeah.

[00:51:24] Yeah.

[00:51:25] Yeah.

[00:51:25] So they can give us more of the variety.

[00:51:27] Like I do not need an acoustic version of crazy.

[00:51:30] You know,

[00:51:31] all the girls are crazy.

[00:51:40] Yeah.

[00:51:41] I don't need that from them.

[00:51:42] That's not what their strength is,

[00:51:44] but could Cat's Eye do that?

[00:51:46] Sure.

[00:51:47] All right,

[00:51:48] guys,

[00:51:48] we're moving right to the final player of the final round.

[00:51:51] And that's I L L I T.

[00:51:54] The illet,

[00:51:55] illet.

[00:51:55] Um,

[00:51:57] Oh my goodness.

[00:51:58] This choreography.

[00:51:59] Can I tell you that their hands are going,

[00:52:01] their elbows are going,

[00:52:02] their wrists are going.

[00:52:03] This choreography is.

[00:52:05] It is tough.

[00:52:07] This choreo is crazy.

[00:52:08] Isn't it?

[00:52:09] Like when I was watching it,

[00:52:10] I was like,

[00:52:10] okay,

[00:52:11] I see the hands.

[00:52:12] And then suddenly I see them jutting there.

[00:52:15] I see them jutting their wrist forward.

[00:52:17] And I was like,

[00:52:17] whoever made this is evil.

[00:52:21] Heinous choreographer.

[00:52:21] They sat there and was like thumb,

[00:52:23] finger,

[00:52:24] thumb,

[00:52:24] finger,

[00:52:25] elbow,

[00:52:25] elbow,

[00:52:26] knee,

[00:52:26] knee.

[00:52:27] I was like,

[00:52:27] what is happening?

[00:52:28] Like every,

[00:52:29] this song uses every joint in this group's body.

[00:52:32] Um,

[00:52:32] I can also appreciate it because there is a certain robotic nature of this.

[00:52:39] And it requires a level of stiffness that the girls are presenting.

[00:52:43] I wouldn't say stiffness.

[00:52:44] It's just more like a rigid body language that you need to have for this.

[00:52:47] You can't be loosey goosey,

[00:52:48] catching grooves and jacking your body.

[00:52:50] You have to literally go sharp,

[00:52:52] sharp,

[00:52:52] hit,

[00:52:53] hit isolation.

[00:52:54] And it's like,

[00:52:54] Oh,

[00:52:55] it's a very cute dance.

[00:52:56] It's giving like those ending credits of like an anime when the girls are

[00:53:00] just going to the left and to the right.

[00:53:04] Like there's an anime cuteness that works.

[00:53:06] Uh,

[00:53:07] the styling of the performances have been cute.

[00:53:09] I will say reminds you of like colorful Disney version of new jeans where

[00:53:12] new jeans are appropriately dressed,

[00:53:13] but they're like Nickelodeon.

[00:53:14] They're cool.

[00:53:15] They're chill.

[00:53:16] They match.

[00:53:16] Disney channel doesn't,

[00:53:17] they never match the kids' clothes.

[00:53:19] You'll see home girl with a cheetah print skirt and a neon pink leggings and

[00:53:23] like these crazy rockstar boots and then a leather jacket that's cropped.

[00:53:27] You know what I'm saying?

[00:53:27] Like it was just a lot.

[00:53:28] And that's what these girls are styled like.

[00:53:30] So I think it works for them because they look young.

[00:53:33] Are wearing cute,

[00:53:34] fashionable clothes as probably more than like how much my house has cost,

[00:53:38] but it doesn't look like that either.

[00:53:41] Um,

[00:53:42] they're not all dressed up like robots that like look exactly the same,

[00:53:45] which I appreciate because the song could,

[00:53:46] you could lean in that whole,

[00:53:47] like let's be little robot girls,

[00:53:49] but they're dressed in styles that all fit their body types,

[00:53:52] like,

[00:53:52] or fit like their,

[00:53:53] their image in the group.

[00:53:54] Like,

[00:53:55] you know,

[00:53:55] she's wearing a high pony and baggy jeans and,

[00:53:59] um,

[00:54:00] like a little crop top.

[00:54:02] She looks great in it.

[00:54:03] She looks great in it.

[00:54:04] You know,

[00:54:04] Iroha is wearing something else.

[00:54:05] Like the,

[00:54:06] what's her name?

[00:54:06] That main girl with the,

[00:54:08] with the eyes,

[00:54:09] the baby,

[00:54:10] she's wearing skirts mostly,

[00:54:12] you know what I'm saying?

[00:54:13] She's wearing cutesy stuff.

[00:54:14] So it makes sense.

[00:54:15] It's nice.

[00:54:15] Um,

[00:54:16] I've heard the girls try to sing in some performances.

[00:54:18] And like you said,

[00:54:19] it's tough with this song.

[00:54:21] Yeah.

[00:54:23] Like they're like jumping.

[00:54:24] Like,

[00:54:25] I mean,

[00:54:25] how are they going to do this?

[00:54:27] The vocals come across as choppy because they're,

[00:54:29] chop,

[00:54:29] chop,

[00:54:29] chop,

[00:54:29] chop,

[00:54:30] chop.

[00:54:30] It's just,

[00:54:31] it's just tough because I feel like this,

[00:54:32] this dance is so involved and requires so much intricate motion and

[00:54:37] perfection that like by the time they get to like literally this two

[00:54:40] minute mark,

[00:54:42] they're looked out of breath and can't maintain their facials.

[00:54:44] And I think that's so unfair to them,

[00:54:45] but I think the chorus is like the worst of it.

[00:54:48] Cause in the,

[00:54:48] in the verses,

[00:54:49] I think it's just kind of,

[00:54:50] can kind of walk and stop and sing,

[00:54:52] but the chorus is just so like,

[00:54:54] it's wild,

[00:54:54] bro.

[00:54:55] It's like,

[00:54:55] it was a soul cycle class.

[00:54:58] Zumba,

[00:54:59] Zumba.

[00:54:59] Zumba,

[00:54:59] Zumba.

[00:55:01] Yeah.

[00:55:03] Oh Lord.

[00:55:04] Yeah.

[00:55:05] I mean,

[00:55:05] I will say the one thing that I was a little annoyed about is,

[00:55:08] you know what I said earlier in the video that their cutesy

[00:55:10] expressions felt like natural in the video,

[00:55:13] natural.

[00:55:14] It does not in the live performances.

[00:55:15] They go back to doing the absolute most with the cutesy.

[00:55:19] Oh,

[00:55:20] which I just,

[00:55:21] it just doesn't feel again,

[00:55:24] genuine.

[00:55:24] I think it's a direction thing.

[00:55:26] I'm starting to blame these companies,

[00:55:27] right?

[00:55:27] You know,

[00:55:27] they got direct.

[00:55:27] Well,

[00:55:28] I mean,

[00:55:28] I mean,

[00:55:28] there's always right.

[00:55:29] There is always,

[00:55:30] of course,

[00:55:31] the talk or the idea that idols are supposed to be perfect.

[00:55:36] And,

[00:55:37] you know,

[00:55:37] they're not human and they kind of lean into that.

[00:55:41] I just,

[00:55:42] I mean,

[00:55:42] maybe it's because,

[00:55:43] you know,

[00:55:43] I'm,

[00:55:44] I'm more into the Western kind of world.

[00:55:46] And that's what I grew up around where it does all feel a bit more

[00:55:50] natural.

[00:55:50] Yes.

[00:55:51] Um,

[00:55:51] which is why I don't love that whole kind of overdone doll thing,

[00:55:57] but taking that out of the picture,

[00:55:59] the dance itself,

[00:56:01] I mean,

[00:56:01] it matches the song,

[00:56:02] you know?

[00:56:03] Yeah.

[00:56:03] Like it is robotic.

[00:56:06] Like all the,

[00:56:07] I mean,

[00:56:07] it's not even tutting.

[00:56:08] Like,

[00:56:08] it's just like crazy hand and wrist angles and movements that are just so

[00:56:13] fast.

[00:56:14] There's so much cardio.

[00:56:15] Cause they have to like jump.

[00:56:16] Yeah.

[00:56:16] And a lot.

[00:56:17] Yeah.

[00:56:18] He's just so specific.

[00:56:19] And it's so fast.

[00:56:20] Like I have so much respect for these girls for how clean they execute

[00:56:25] this.

[00:56:26] Like it,

[00:56:26] this is hard as hell.

[00:56:29] This is hard as hell.

[00:56:31] And then it sucks because then with those faces that they make,

[00:56:33] like,

[00:56:34] are they even having fun with it?

[00:56:35] You know,

[00:56:36] like it's just,

[00:56:36] it's just like,

[00:56:38] they can't even relax for a second.

[00:56:40] Like at all.

[00:56:40] Yeah.

[00:56:41] It's high pressure.

[00:56:42] High pressure.

[00:56:43] But you know,

[00:56:43] it has a lot of like little moments.

[00:56:45] I like that it gets a little groovier at some points in verses and stuff.

[00:56:49] Cause then it just balances it well with kind of the robotic chorus.

[00:56:54] Yeah.

[00:56:54] I,

[00:56:54] you know,

[00:56:55] I stick to what I said before.

[00:56:56] I think there's a lot of potential actually in this group.

[00:56:58] Yeah.

[00:56:58] I think there,

[00:56:59] there's good potential.

[00:57:01] Let's see.

[00:57:02] I'm excited for them.

[00:57:03] I watched them get formed.

[00:57:04] I first,

[00:57:04] I was like,

[00:57:05] this,

[00:57:06] but the companies are going to do what they're going to do and make the

[00:57:08] groups that they're going to make.

[00:57:09] And,

[00:57:10] you know,

[00:57:10] he's got to move on from it and just hope for the best,

[00:57:12] you know?

[00:57:13] But yeah,

[00:57:14] I like what's going on here.

[00:57:16] So who,

[00:57:17] I liked all of them to a different extent,

[00:57:19] but I will say that new jeans takes it from me.

[00:57:21] Like no question.

[00:57:22] I know.

[00:57:23] Like,

[00:57:24] this is hard.

[00:57:24] Cause like,

[00:57:25] I know touch and it's literally just because,

[00:57:28] Oh,

[00:57:28] I know.

[00:57:28] Like I watched it so many times and then like,

[00:57:31] Oh,

[00:57:31] I learned it in like 10 minutes,

[00:57:33] you know,

[00:57:34] like,

[00:57:34] it's just so it's ingrained in my head.

[00:57:37] Yeah.

[00:57:38] That dance routine.

[00:57:39] But I do also have to give it to new jeans.

[00:57:42] It's like unbeatable.

[00:57:43] That choreo is amazing.

[00:57:45] Yeah.

[00:57:46] This is unbeatable.

[00:57:47] I'm sorry.

[00:57:48] I'm sorry.

[00:57:49] Cats Eye.

[00:57:50] And so,

[00:57:50] Hey,

[00:57:51] I know.

[00:57:52] Claire is so good though.

[00:57:53] It's really good.

[00:57:54] I didn't mean to not give cats.

[00:57:55] I anything,

[00:57:55] but it's a hard,

[00:57:56] like have a whole year of all these girl groups again,

[00:57:59] all the drama aside,

[00:58:00] the music was good.

[00:58:01] So everyone else did their job.

[00:58:03] Yeah.

[00:58:03] Everyone who was not C-suite did their job.

[00:58:06] Okay.

[00:58:08] All the creative folks did what they needed to do.

[00:58:12] So we're going to pick an overall winner.

[00:58:14] I think my overall winner may not reflect what I've seen.

[00:58:17] Selected.

[00:58:17] That's okay.

[00:58:19] But you know,

[00:58:20] guys,

[00:58:20] if you've made it this far,

[00:58:21] make sure you subscribe.

[00:58:22] We're almost at 3k with or without you.

[00:58:24] We're going to get there,

[00:58:24] but we'd rather get there with you.

[00:58:26] CCTV crew.

[00:58:26] Come to the brunch.

[00:58:27] Come,

[00:58:28] come over.

[00:58:29] But yeah.

[00:58:30] And also if you're listening on the podcast,

[00:58:31] thank you so much.

[00:58:33] Subscribe there as well.

[00:58:34] We love you too.

[00:58:35] Yeah.

[00:58:35] We got a lot of good increases on our Spotify wrapped.

[00:58:38] So thank you.

[00:58:39] So thank you.

[00:58:40] Yes.

[00:58:40] Okay.

[00:58:41] So overall winner,

[00:58:42] Chris,

[00:58:42] do you want to go first?

[00:58:44] Yeah.

[00:58:45] Yeah.

[00:58:47] Um,

[00:58:49] I know I gave new jeans more.

[00:58:52] Yeah.

[00:58:52] It feels wrong to not give cat's eye anything.

[00:58:54] And I've definitely listened to cat's eye more than I've listened to new jeans.

[00:58:58] Right.

[00:58:59] So I think I will give it to cat's eye.

[00:59:02] That's so valid.

[00:59:03] I thought the same thing too.

[00:59:04] Like even after that episode we filmed,

[00:59:06] I felt so bad not giving cat's eye a single thing.

[00:59:08] Cause I sat there and I was like,

[00:59:09] I might even think of sexy in the air right now.

[00:59:12] I was thinking of touch the whole time.

[00:59:15] The whole time.

[00:59:16] Even my first song round,

[00:59:17] I was on the fence between new jeans and right.

[00:59:20] Right.

[00:59:20] Yeah.

[00:59:21] The reason I was because while I was on tour,

[00:59:23] I played those two songs when I was in a mood.

[00:59:25] I was like,

[00:59:26] I need to calm down and I need to go crazy again.

[00:59:29] So for me,

[00:59:31] um,

[00:59:33] even if I kind of just threw in some B sides,

[00:59:34] right?

[00:59:34] Like new jeans is bubble gum and how sweet cat's eye with touch and debut.

[00:59:39] Um,

[00:59:40] ill it with cherish tic tac and the Sarah from with crazy and hot and fun.

[00:59:43] If I had to think about that,

[00:59:44] we didn't talk about it,

[00:59:45] but if I had to kind of put it all together,

[00:59:47] um,

[00:59:48] the Sarah Fem is up there for me.

[00:59:50] I would say in terms of like,

[00:59:54] they had a good year,

[00:59:55] but I think in terms of blowing my mind,

[01:00:00] I'm,

[01:00:01] I'm,

[01:00:01] I'm going to agree with you with cat's eye.

[01:00:03] I think unfortunately if new jeans,

[01:00:05] they didn't get stopped with all the crap that's happening.

[01:00:08] I probably would have given it to them,

[01:00:09] but yeah,

[01:00:10] I think,

[01:00:10] I think cat's eye definitely takes the year.

[01:00:16] Okay.

[01:00:17] Yeah.

[01:00:17] Would I say they take the year?

[01:00:18] Yeah.

[01:00:18] They take the year.

[01:00:19] I would say.

[01:00:20] Yeah.

[01:00:20] Of the high girl groups,

[01:00:21] at least of the high girl groups.

[01:00:23] Yeah.

[01:00:24] Okay.

[01:00:25] Overall package.

[01:00:27] That's fair.

[01:00:28] Hmm.

[01:00:29] And speaking of hype,

[01:00:30] if you have not listened to our new jeans,

[01:00:32] what's going on episode,

[01:00:34] that has up to a certain point.

[01:00:37] And then we will do a part two,

[01:00:38] once this settles down a little bit more,

[01:00:41] but we both have a lot of music industry experience.

[01:00:43] So if you want to hear us talk more about the business side of it,

[01:00:46] all in the mess,

[01:00:48] that is this new jeans situation.

[01:00:50] Definitely go check that out and stay tuned for more.

[01:00:54] But in the meantime,

[01:00:55] let us know what wins the pop off for you in the comments.

[01:01:11] That's good.

[01:01:12] And we're signing off from CCTV,

[01:01:14] the nonstop pop show.
