Eternal Reunion Drama: LGBTQ+ Stance Controversy and New Member?! | POP 101 Part 2

[00:00:00] So, we did a POP 101 episode all about Eternal a few months ago and we have to give a shout out because Louise actually watched and commented on our video which is awesome so thank you Louise.

[00:00:12] So if you haven't checked that episode out, definitely go do that but there have been some updates since then so we thought we'd give a little update. Yeah. So, let's go back to September 2023. So before that there wasn't much news going on about a reunion or anything. Right.

[00:00:31] There were some rumblings Louise did bring out Kelly during her concert to sing a couple songs so that was cool. Yeah. But in September of 2023 reports started coming out that there was supposed to be a four member

[00:00:50] Eternal reunion but then a rep for Louise then revealed to the news outlets that this reunion would no longer be taking place because Verney and Esther would not perform at certain Pride shows or LGBTQ plus festivals because they felt that they quote

[00:01:11] the gay community was being hijacked by the trans community and they do not support this. So Louise and Kelly told the two sisters that they would not work with anyone who held these views so that's why the reunion did not move ahead.

[00:01:27] So then after these statements came out Louise and Kelly did actually write statements on their own socials just basically saying that this was all what happened

[00:01:38] but then for the Bennett sisters then their rep came out and they said that didn't feel fair that they came out with this news because it was a private email discussion and they didn't feel that they were representing their views correctly because

[00:01:57] they were okay performing at certain Pride and LGBTQ plus events but they felt I guess again that the Pride events were being again quote hijacked by the trans community so Okay Yes Any thoughts on all this? It's really sad to hear

[00:02:18] The hijack word it's so oh my god it's so like I hate that word such a buzzword you know it's unfortunate that a that's what instead of just saying

[00:02:27] we are plans fell through would have been the very socially correct or whatever politically I guess but would have been like a you know intimately correct thing to say in my opinion just plans fell through

[00:02:39] I do think it was a necessary rather for Louise and Kelly or whomever scammed to say yeah no they don't like y'all don't you gotta do all that

[00:02:49] on the other hand at least now people know going forward you know like hey I don't want to support them because they don't really like me as a human being

[00:02:57] and people that look like me sound like me are like me so I guess it does have its benefits but I do wish the way it was handled

[00:03:04] the writer just a little um a little bit unsavory for lack of a better word you know it's a little unsavory

[00:03:11] yeah and then the whole some stop just stop yeah I think what do you think about I mean like you are you are a fan not like strong like a big big

[00:03:23] thing but how would you feel if like girls allowed were like even though never happened they were like oh yeah no f the community

[00:03:30] would you be able to listen to them I know that would be wild and yeah I think I would question support yeah sure that's valid

[00:03:37] especially with eternal where a lot of the fans are part of the LGBTQ plus community yeah and there's the T in that that acronym there so

[00:03:49] hello um but I agree with you I do think it's messy the way it came out I think it does make sense that I think if it came from a

[00:03:57] place of like like yes a lot of our fans are from that community so Louise and Kelly were like we need to let them know that that this is happening I guess yeah um but it did feel backhanded a little bit because I think it could have been

[00:04:11] they could have agreed to make it like group statement or something I don't know something yeah something in a way that was just a little cleaner

[00:04:18] I think yeah yeah because then of course then the sisters had to come out and be defensive about it so that now it's like I don't

[00:04:24] know it's just very right and stuff yeah so yeah um but anyway since then obviously the support for the sisters has has died yeah yeah but they have still managed to book some gigs for this summer oh really are working with their previous manager

[00:04:46] news came out in February 2024 that they have recruited a brand new third member named Kristel Laktar stop what hang on wait please hang on wait stop here's the picture here here I'm sending it in the chat oh my god

[00:06:05] almost how it invoked it but in both gave us an album first yeah and both gave us music but this is like kind of like left left field a bit no fisting miss Kristel but like girl who are you so sorry she seems very beautiful she seems

[00:06:27] statement yeah and yet so funny cuz even in this whole article that's the exclusive from the mirror they spend half the article again explaining the

[00:06:36] whole trans issue and no favors like it does the sisters no favors like they're still saying that you know they're about the trans lobby

[00:06:45] and the erosion of the rights of women and children so yeah so the PR still hasn't been great there was a really really funny article that I saw

[00:06:54] because they I guess they had booked a concert that takes place in a car park or something and they say and then the headline from the

[00:07:05] Daily Mail is eternal cancel car park comeback gig due to low ticket sales that's all of that just sounds like it's like a string of like crappy pearls

[00:07:18] like all the just curled up together terrible oh my god you know what man like for me it's like are they gonna release music in the interim

[00:07:26] of now until then are you like hey guys random girl you've never seen before I let's go you know what it is I think you know they failed as a duo as

[00:07:36] we talked about in our pop one and their silhouette as a group is a three some yeah so I think they were like we just need a third person to do the

[00:07:45] who's in Oz in the back because you know let's be real Kelly saying like nothing yeah I leave a voice so she's gonna just be their sister

[00:07:52] bird bird burning yeah so she's she's just there to complete the three you know what I mean man come on you we all know Esther was holding it down

[00:08:03] maybe Chris they've somehow still booked a bunch of gigs and it's a little sad actually because a lot of them are still like

[00:08:11] not not specifically gay or LGBTQ plus events like in name but at the end of the day like the fans of you know the old throwback music

[00:08:20] that would go to these gigs a lot of people who would go to those shows are part of that community so yeah they're still they're still in there

[00:08:28] they're still in a lot of these lineups that's this oh my god that's a shame because you know what they're they're blocking the blessing

[00:08:36] you know they're blocking it but you know what if it makes them feel good to stand up for their beliefs and such I wish they would do it in such a way where it was like

[00:08:46] them be smirking another groups you know situation but you can't tell them what to do yeah you can't unfortunately and it seems like they have a lot of control over the

[00:08:56] catalog apparently yeah in terms of like what can be performed what not I mean Louise did her little thing but she can't go around saying Louise

[00:09:03] Louise of eternal she was around for once and then Kelly can't really you that you know I'm saying so it's like yeah yeah yeah the other ones can I guess the

[00:09:09] remaining members can still gather together the duo can gather when it needs it but at this point in time I think they're never going to really reconcile as like a quartet
