Big shout out to our Patreon producers, operators, and PAs, Emily, George, Lily, Julianne, Jonathan, Jasmine, Janelle, Darius, Ren, Hillary, TKO861, and our newest crew member, Joelino! Yay! We're so excited to have you with us! And if you want to help us choose episode topics and just discuss pop music with us, join us over at patreon.com slash cctvpops.com.

00:00:28 --> 00:00:50 That's right. And you get a shout out, of course. Wouldn't you want a shout out? Okay, along the credits. But yes, we are so excited to discuss the Cabocard Tour. We both went on separate dates and we have done a review already. So we're really excited. We've done a review of the Renaissance album, the Renaissance concert. So we're just hopping right back in. How many years later, you know?

00:00:50 --> 00:01:20 So yes, following the Renaissance tour, which we both went to, Beyonce has followed Act 1 up with Act 2 with another stadium tour supporting Cowboy Carter. Like we said, Act 2 of the trilogy. With 32 dates across Europe and North America, Beyonce's almost three-hour show includes every song on Cowboy Carter and has, of course, received amazing reviews from across the board. So let's get into it and discuss the show. Viewer discretion is advised. Your fave will be criticized.

00:01:21 --> 00:01:30 So before we get into like the track by track set list breakdown, how was your overall experience at Cowboy Carter?

00:01:31 --> 00:01:52 all right so i went on the may 28th rain date yes honey the one thing about rain or shine it was rough um it was cold right yeah it was it was i got lucky enough to be underneath the canopy um i will say met life is so wild to get to i left for the venue two and a half hours before doors

00:01:52 --> 00:02:07 Okay. And I still ended up getting that seven something. The traffic was gnarly as heck. And then because of rain, though, things were running late. And for that, I am very grateful. So the show didn't start until about 745 ish, maybe going closer to eight. I remember being in the bathroom and I was like, Oh, my God.

00:02:07 --> 00:02:27 I hear something. And it was, goodbye, oh, my old friend. I was like, oh, my God, American McCray. So I, like, ran. But, yeah, you know, shout out to the whole team for dancing and singing in the rain. So much could have gone wrong. And everyone still gave 100%. And also the stage quality is so good because there's a lot of LEDs and lighting. And the rain was just...

00:02:27 --> 00:02:49 soaking up everything so the fact that it didn't penetrate i'm impressed none of the panels were like missing lights i was really impressed by that and yeah it was cold as heck dude it was so cold i was under a canopy i didn't get that wet um and yeah like i said again shout out to everyone dancers instrumentalists beyonce hair costuming because honey she came out with one wig

00:02:49 --> 00:03:12 yeah and then she switched it and i was like wait oh she got the she got the little get this one wet wig because the other one was like girl the curls are following when she came out of that first outfit the curls were were starting to unravel so i was like girl go ahead to the hair team y'all for sure nice yes i was lucky i went the day after you when it did not rain yeah

00:03:13 --> 00:03:33 So I lucked out there. But yeah, I was super impressed by the show. I mean, how can you not enjoy a Beyonce show? Right. She definitely is, or arguably is, because I'm sure people may disagree. But I think she is the best performer of our current generation. And I'm going to be honest.

00:03:33 --> 00:03:51 I'm not a huge fan of Cowboy Carter. Okay. I wasn't sure if I was going to go to the show, but I'm very glad that I did. And I thought it was cool that it actually did really feel like an act, too. Oh, yeah. The creative direction of it felt very similar to the vibe of Renaissance. Yes. Yeah.

00:03:51 --> 00:04:17 Very consistent. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I think all the themes around, like, Black contributions to country music and the American culture, particularly the South, I think they did an amazing job with all that theming. And we'll get more into that as we go. Yeah. I do think we should mention, though, there was a lot of controversy with the concert ticket prices. Oh, yes. And this is part of the reason why I wasn't sure if I was going to go until the last minute. Yeah. Because...

00:04:18 --> 00:04:26 When I first looked like when the first sale opened, tickets were about three times, I believe, what Renaissance cost. Yes.

00:04:26 --> 00:04:52 Yeah, in different sections. We're just crazy. Thousands of dollars for the pits. Yeah, that was wild. Hundreds and hundreds of dollars in the nosebleeds. Yeah, yeah. I got lucky with my ticket price. I actually waited a little while. But yeah, I always tell people, wait 15 minutes. Don't rush by because, again, those tickets are jacked the F up. But yeah, the tickets were expensive. My friend actually got last-minute tickets. A lot of people I know got last-minute tickets in the nosebleeds.

00:04:52 --> 00:05:08 Um, 450 or less. So I think the closer to the day it dropped, but that initial just rush panic buying definitely happened. The criticism definitely came in. Was it well deserved? I think so, because it's not just like, oh, oh, she has no control of that. They do.

00:05:08 --> 00:05:33 All the artists do. Oh, she definitely does. Yeah. They actually, during their deal with Ticketmaster, Live Nation, etc., they actually get to say how high their prices can go, whether they want dynamic pricing. Clearly, she said yes to dynamic pricing. And I think it's mean. Lol. I do. I think it's mean. I think it's mean to your fans, actually. And yes, the show was great, but...

00:05:34 --> 00:05:58 Yeah, I think I can understand. That turns me off a little bit. No, I can totally understand that. It's tough because you want to enjoy the show, but at the, not the risk, but essentially you're kind of dropping a vacation ticket. Multiple. Multiple vacations on one night. So I can understand the people being upset about that. I do wish that if they're going to charge that much, I get a meet and greet something. You better give me something.

00:05:58 --> 00:06:28 Yes, you have to meet all 50 people that are here tonight. Yeah. Shoot. No, I mean, if I'm going to be in the pit, I think if I'm going to be in the pit, she better do a quick little sound check. Like, hey, y'all, how y'all doing? But anyway, point is, or at least they're one of the wigs in the audience. I don't care. Do something. But yeah, go back to the wig thing. She actually didn't change wigs. The wigs just got super wet at the end of the night. I think they planned for that. But yeah, no, I agree. I think it was kind of pricey. I'm not going to lie. Yeah. I clarned that. I clarned it. I ain't going to hold

00:06:28 --> 00:06:34 Shout out to Klarna. Yes. Heck yes. Okay. So merch. What did you think of the merch? I did not buy any merch. Yeah.

00:06:34 --> 00:07:03 Okay, so I was thinking about buying merch, but I got there and I was thinking, let me hurry up. Let me get inside. I don't know when the show's going to start. It's set up something. It's already starting like an hour late, almost an hour late. So I ended up not getting merchandise. I did want the little Cowboy Carter jersey. The blue one or the red one would have been fine. I think it was pretty decent. I love the white platinum braid look that she has, and I wanted that shirt. But I actually do have a Cowboy Carter Jolene top, so I didn't buy it. Oh, yeah.

00:07:03 --> 00:07:31 At the... Listen, okay. Here's the thing. Hear me out, right? My friend says that Beyonce and a lot of other prop artists are capitalists. And I get it. Like, the whole pricing of the merchandise was, like, jacked all the way to the F up. I get it. I totally get it. So, if it makes you guys feel any better, like, I can criticize the system I'm a part of. But also, like, enjoy it. So, I bought a shirt that says Cowboy Carter on it. And it was made by a bootlegger. I mean, it's in the spirit of the South. It's a bootleg. A bootlegger. That's cute, actually. Right?

00:07:31 --> 00:07:48 Super cute, right? Beyonce, Cowboy Carter. And you look on the back, it has like the same poster, like the poster dates and like the cities. But if you look even closer, it says Beyonce. It says Cowboy Carter Rodeo Chikiki Circuit. Ha ha ha ha.

00:07:50 --> 00:08:14 So a Chitiki is like a fruit. I don't know who made this shirt, but it's supposed to say Chitlin. Yes. So, yeah, it's supposed to say Chitlin. Honestly, this makes it better. I know. So I love this Chitiki circuit shirt so much. Nice. And it's a rebellion against the machine. I mean, I love Beyonce's machine, but I can't afford it. So that was his love.

00:08:14 --> 00:08:37 Look, you paid for a concert ticket. Yes, that's enough. Yes. And I got it from the parking lot. So shout out to the people who actually go to the parking lot. I appreciate y'all because, you know, you give us a piece of the concert. Honestly, those people, sometimes they make some really good shirts that are actually better than the real merch. Like this is so cute. But like it just says chicky chicky. And cowboy with the space in the middle. Oh yeah, cowboy.

00:08:38 --> 00:08:55 Okay, so getting into the show, what do you think of the overall creative direction of it? Yeah, so what you were saying about Renaissance, the act one, it was like the circle, kind of like a complete circle into the extended stage with this one. Yeah. It was the extended stage, it pointed, and then it had a star, that kind of.

00:08:55 --> 00:09:24 reached its peak on the screen. So it was very consistent with the way Renaissance was filmed. But in this show, which I really appreciate with Act 2, is that there was a lot of juxtaposition with the screens. If she's singing on one side that dances on the other, if she's in this modern setting of her performing, there's a scene of, you know, a black and white scene on the opposite side kind of illustrating what she's singing about, illustrating the spirit of the song that she is singing. So I appreciate that split scene

00:09:24 --> 00:09:32 version of the screen. It was nice to look at. I think it also...

00:09:32 --> 00:10:00 elevated the stage design that we've already seen. Like, let's be real here. Nothing about the cowboy Carter, like the concept of the stage was like brand new. The shape was different. Yes. But the way it was set up felt like you're in different parts of the, of cowboy Carter's world. There's like a saloon neon signs here. There's two B stages. Like there was a lot going on. So she felt a little bit more closer. It felt a little bit more raw, which I appreciate. It didn't feel so futuristic and distant. Yeah.

00:10:00 --> 00:10:21 So I think in that sense, something, even though I was like in the stands, something felt like I was closer to her. The proximity just felt a lot more like closer, for sure. Yeah. I loved the stage. I thought the star was very cool. It's like the Lone Star, right? Like the Texas Lone Star. But then with the extension and the arrow at the end, it kind of looked like an electric guitar.

00:10:21 --> 00:10:45 Yes. Oh, my God. That was pretty cool. And I love a little like salon or saloon signs and stuff on the side. And yeah, I agree with you. I mean, we said this about Renaissance, too. I love that she knows that most people are far away. So they every single shot on the screens is perfectly timed and thought out. And it's catering to the fact that she's in a stadium.

00:10:45 --> 00:11:15 dude, the latency thing is such an issue. Yeah. And it wasn't. I was like, wow. I really appreciate the attention to detail there. Yes. Yeah, it's really, really well done. And honestly, just watching the camera work. Oh my God. And how they do it. You see the men on stage running on, running off. You see the ones on the strings at the top. Yes. And just like the way they choreographed everything in terms of the logistics was very, very impressive. Heck yeah. Yeah. Getting more into the set list,

00:11:15 --> 00:11:39 what did you think of how cowboy carter was kind of paced because cowboy carter has more slow songs for sure in general yeah this time she did not do it in the order of the album because renaissance was basically in the order of the album yeah this time i get it i think for pacing reasons she kind of needed to spread it out a little bit more um yeah what did you think of how that was done um

00:11:40 --> 00:12:10 I think just kind of, it was more about telling a story. So I think that was the focus for sure. Like you have like this inception of a concept. You have ownership and almost kind of like a rebellion. You have not a sad section, but you have a moment where it's kind of reflective. You have a little moment where it's a little bit more, you know, you're kind of settled into it. So you feel more sensual.

00:12:10 --> 00:12:28 of all of these hits, your most recent album, and then you close out with the song that represents the X amount of years that you've been working your behind off. So I think in that sense, it definitely tells a very good story of like...

00:12:28 --> 00:12:56 Maybe how she feels now, how she felt then, but there's a lot of emotions that could be felt through the trajectory of the show. So I think in that sense, it was well done. And yes, there's a lot of mid-tempo and being able to interpolate and remix with current songs and, you know, trending songs is very important. And I also appreciate that she did not copy any of the Beyonce bowl arrangements.

00:12:57 --> 00:13:19 to a T because that happens sometimes. You'll watch them perform it one time and you're watching them. That's the show. Yeah. That is the show on tour. So I did appreciate that. Not a lot of the arrangements were exactly the same. Even the Texas Hold'em arrangement was like different in terms of. A little different. Yeah. Yeah. But it wasn't like, this is exactly what you saw on Netflix. So I think I appreciate that a lot. Yeah.

00:13:19 --> 00:13:39 That's fair. I do think the hits medley this time was necessary. Oof, yeah. I was surrounded by a lot of casuals, I would say, actually. They needed that. Yeah. They needed that moment, I think. Yes, the snap back in. And I believe that actually wasn't in the first night, so she must have realized. It was like all we need.

00:13:39 --> 00:14:02 We need the hits in here for the casuals. Yes. And I will say, obviously, I love Renaissance so much. I loved that show so much. I still listen to that album all the time. Yeah. I was surprised so much of Renaissance was in this show. And I get that, you know, it's kind of like, oh, this is Act Two. So it's all connected in a way. Yeah. Yeah.

00:14:03 --> 00:14:30 I kind of wish we got a few more kind of random deep cuts. Because I love that Why Don't You Love Me was in there. I love all these kind of more random ones. So it was great to get Renaissance again. But yeah, I found that to be an interesting choice. Because I knew... I didn't know that many spoilers going into the show. But I knew that she did redo those first three songs. Because everyone was talking about it. Like pretty much the exact... They were like, oh, she like literally redoes the intro. The whole section. And I was like, oh, that's interesting. But then I wasn't expecting like...

00:14:30 --> 00:14:45 all the other ones to also be there throughout the show. So yeah, I don't know. That's an interesting choice. And it'll be interesting to see what happens with Act Three. Because then it's like, oh, I guess so. Cowboy Carter and Renaissance will be in that too then. Ooh, that's going to be such a challenge. Oh my god. Yeah. And lastly, costumes. What do you think of all the costumes?

00:14:46 --> 00:15:01 Um, you know, the Renaissance throwbacks in terms of, like, the costuming, but they were gold this time, like, just straight up gold. Um, she's doing that thing she did in the last show where she changes the show, the costumes each night. Um...

00:15:01 --> 00:15:23 I really do appreciate some of the costumes because she was... Girl, listen, y'all. Y'all know how it is to have wet socks? This woman was wearing denim in a lot of the scenes, sets, whatever, performances, acts, if you will. And, oh, my God, the rain was just all over her. I'll talk a little bit more about it. But I think in terms of costuming, it was...

00:15:23 --> 00:15:45 So interesting to see, like, from act to act, the concept being embodied. Like, that first act she's wearing, the aviators, the hat, the bodysuit, the heels. It looks like she looks like a rock star. Like, one of those old school, like, maybe, I guess, Elvis. For lack of a better comparison. But, yeah, she's really embodying that whole...

00:15:45 --> 00:16:00 little Richard kind of vibe where everything's kind of frantic, a little bit of Tina in there, but she's not wearing a dress when she could. It's very masculine, that first bit of costuming. And then the second half, not second half, but like as the show progresses, she's wearing not less, but she's wearing tight clothes.

00:16:00 --> 00:16:18 clothing she's wearing her America has the problem thing to kind of give that throwback so I think in terms of the cowboy Carter like western inspired garb those are my favorites because you have all of these um nods to what she usually wears but then it's either elevated or accentuated with a silhouette that

00:16:18 --> 00:16:39 looks like western or vintage south or you know it's yeah it's very it's very interesting i think i guess as we talk about the show and the acts i will get a little bit more detail like oh i love this costume because of x y and z um certain things surprised me i will say that because i was like whoa that's different so yeah she had some very like she had some wow moments for me

00:16:39 --> 00:17:00 Yes, for sure. For sure. And then, oh, I forgot about, of course, we have to talk about her vocals. Oh my God. Yeah. The mic was on for most of the time. Most of it. Yeah. Most of it. No, no, no. Listen, I always tell people, when I saw her once in formation, like years ago, I remember sitting there and I heard her make a mistake and I was like,

00:17:01 --> 00:17:26 She made a mistake on our night. She started laughing. It was so funny. And I was just like, I love that. It's not me trying to clock her. I'm not trying to hickory dickory dock her tea or anything like that. It's just one of those things where you're like, oh, the mic is actually on. Oh, yeah. She's just kind of having fun. There are moments where it is lipped. And I totally get why it would be lipped. But for the most part, for her to be singing with her mouth wide open with rain.

00:17:27 --> 00:17:48 girl yeah we can talk about some of the songs um and maybe why she made those choices but yeah okay let's get into the show okay so the first act is called requiem although i someone just if i get these section titles wrong i apologize but this is what's on setlist.fm so i'm just trusting that

00:17:48 --> 00:18:12 Okay, so the songs in this act are American Requiem, Blackbird, The Star Spangled Banner, Freedom, Yaya, and Why Don't You Love Me? Why Don't You Love Me? Which is my favorite. Can I just say, I love that song. Like every time I go to karaoke, I sing that song because it's so much fun. And Beyonce has so much fun singing it too. She always puts so much attitude in. But anyway, before we get there, what did you think of the opening of the show?

00:18:12 --> 00:18:41 Okay. Beyonce singing alone was amazing. Can I just say the American flag in that renaissance? Like, love the images kind of clipping away. But yeah, no, Beyonce singing alone is amazing. The lone star, if you will, if you want to look that deeply into it. Hang on, tin hat's coming on a little bit. But yeah, you have the lone star on stage. Obviously, there are dancers in the forefront of it, but her in the background just sitting there, just singing, just...

00:18:41 --> 00:18:53 being a great vocalist. Hello. It kind of reminded me how she opened up her own renaissance. Yeah. But this was just her just being more raw. Blackbird

00:18:54 --> 00:19:24 was the one I actually was like, dang, I should pull up my phone because she was showing so many Black artists that came before her. And I was like, wow, it's crazy how deep the history of country music or even just like, quote unquote, race music goes because a lot of it came from the South. How deep it goes. I loved her spinning on stage with the birds, with the LED on the stage. I was like, oh my God. That's what made me realize that the stage also had panels inside of it. And I'm like, how much does this cost?

00:19:24 --> 00:19:39 how does this cost um but yeah i think the one thing i wasn't expecting and i think she added uh just recently i'm like more recently is the star-spangled banner the jimi hendrix version oh that wasn't in the first i don't think it wasn't

00:19:39 --> 00:19:57 I think someone said she had added it, but I could be wrong. Sorry, Beehive. Give me a moment. I'm not going to lie. I was trying to watch spoilers. So if I'm wrong, it's because I literally blocked Beyonce for a little bit. Like, I was like, I can't follow you. So I unfollowed her and I blocked her. I think it was in the show, but yeah. Okay. If I'm wrong, I apologize. Sorry, y'all. But yeah, no, here, honestly...

00:19:57 --> 00:20:16 a lot of people are saying like, oh yeah, Hendrix version of the Anthem was like a protest of the war. And the case, you know, the lie, his life being taken away. But he had mentioned like, it was more of him like, you know, just expressing himself and then trying to embody like the chaos and the unsettling feeling of that era as opposed to being like, this is my protest. I don't,

00:20:16 --> 00:20:34 have like a recorded proof or like an interview. But I do remember like reading something and he wasn't like, I appreciate y'all reading into it, but don't read that much. But for the sake of this performance, it sounds so raw. It sounds so aggressive. And then on top of that, she's singing along with it.

00:20:34 --> 00:20:50 Yeah. And he's using, what is that called? Like the distortion? What was it called? The thing, the lever. Oh, my God. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm not an instrumentalist, y'all. I sang. But he's, the whale, the wah-wah, whatever. He's making that thing go, ah.

00:20:51 --> 00:21:20 And she's singing in the same way the guitar is going. And I'm like, honestly, her ability to follow along vocally was impressive. And then for her to segue into freedom, I was like, yes! Yeah, I thought that was a really cool way to do the statement. Because you have that big thing that comes up too that says, never ask permission for something that already belongs to you. And then it kind of goes into freedom. So yes, I think, yeah, even if Hendrix didn't mean it to be a protest song. The answer is true.

00:21:20 --> 00:21:46 Beyonce, it's not a protest, it's clearly a statement. A statement, yeah. About just kind of what's going on right now politically. Yeah. And so, yeah, I thought that was really cool. And everyone, I think, gasped a little bit when she started singing it. Yeah. Which is, so that was a cool moment, just to kind of get everyone's attention a little bit. Yes. Because the beginning is a little soft, you know? It is. It's like a nice little ease into it, yeah. Yeah. And I thought...

00:21:47 --> 00:22:07 The way they did American Requiem with the dancers and how they kind of came out first as kind of a choir in a way. But then they also had like cloaks on. So it's kind of creepy. Yeah. Also. But then they do. They come back on. It's all very dramatic and stuff. And then Blackbird's more sweet. Yeah. So I think this is really where the show started is when the national anthem, I think. Oh, yeah. That's when everyone really kind of was like in it.

00:22:07 --> 00:22:31 Yes, like wake up. Yeah. Yes. Oh, my gosh. So there are some moments here and there that I really enjoy, like the Yaya performance. I felt like I was like, Tina, it was giving Tina, this is like the perfect time for her to actually show her influences. And then my favorite like wow moment from that was freedom. Yes. But then also she had a little cigarette to kind of give that old school like.

00:22:31 --> 00:22:52 I don't get what the whole, like, we got to smoke a cigarette, you know, and then sync thing is, I guess. But she's embodying the character and then lighting the... It probably wasn't a real cigarette, was it? No, no. I mean, she does smoke. She does smoke, but... Yeah. Not cigarette cigars, mostly. But I know of my bad. But yeah, so I love when she threw the cigarette in the...

00:22:52 --> 00:23:22 piano was ablaze. So that was fun. It's so cool. Theater magic. We love it. Yeah. Yaya is so good. It's one of my favorites off the album. And again, I didn't really know much about the show. So of course, that's later on in the album. So being so early in the show, I was like, oh, okay, what else you got? Right. But it makes sense because it has that kind of intro in there. And of course, I already said, why don't you love me? Yeah. I was very excited about it. I was very excited. Yes. I was very excited. Um,

00:23:22 --> 00:23:46 And we got to see the band rolled out as well during Yaya. Yes. I love the way they did it this time where they were kind of on those two platforms. Band, of course, was amazing throughout the show. Oh my gosh, yeah. But yeah, and then of course, then the end of this act, we get her sitting on the throne with the robot arm. Yeah. Pouring her the whiskey. Yeah. And then the TV remote. Yeah.

00:23:47 --> 00:24:07 Yes. I cannot with her. The Sir Davis plugs are amazing. Good for her. I don't drink, but I want to taste it now. Like, she did a very good job of convincing me. I was like, ooh, girl, that's a luxurious. Give me some. But yes. We, of course, have to shout out the clip from an earlier city when the robot missed. Did you see that? Yeah. Did it, like, smack?

00:24:07 --> 00:24:25 Not smack, but like it kind of waved. No, it just missed. It just missed the cup. But I think it was, I don't know if it was Beyonce put the cup in the wrong spot, or I don't know if someone else put this cup in the wrong spot. I forget like what the sequencing is, but the robot missed and she like looks in the cup and then laughs. It's very good. That was actually really funny, but yeah.

00:24:25 --> 00:24:41 No, I did see it. I was just nodding my head. Oh, it happened? Sorry. That's my listening face. But yes, moving right along to the TV shutting off, we have Revolution. That's the second act where the revolution will not be televised or will be televised. Was it will not be?

00:24:41 --> 00:25:01 Yes, the revolution will not be televised. It will be live. And that's when we get into America Has a Problem, Spaghetti, Formation, My House, and D-D-D-Diva. Mm-hmm. Wow. Okay, so, you know, we have the interlude, the VCR, as I tend to call it. Is there anything that, like, stood out to you in those clips or...

00:25:02 --> 00:25:24 No, I mean, I like the archival footage, actually. Like, Chuck Berry is there. Oh, yeah. And then, yeah, I think it's cool the way they did kind of all the different screens. And I don't know, the way they see everything in all of these VCRs, as you say. I hate that term. It's from K-pop. It's from K-pop. Yes, yes, yes. Yeah, I think it's cool the way they planned it all out.

00:25:25 --> 00:25:50 Yeah, totally. I think it's so interesting because she also put in past things, past footage, and then modern commentary about her criticism that she's faced. What does that say? Queen Bey doesn't have to be in country music. I started laughing. So having America Has a Problem be the first thing was awesome because, again, it is relevant. And I remember when we did our album review, I was like, I thought...

00:25:50 --> 00:26:09 I thought this song was gonna be about America being kind of a bit of a hot mess, you know? But it wasn't. It was about her being like the problem, you know? So again, it still is very relevant because she did kind of shake up a lot of people's... She ruffled feathers and she was the problem. I think the song still hits.

00:26:09 --> 00:26:36 It is very fun that she now has Blue coming out in the front. For our show, Blue came out with two towels and she wiped the stage. I saw that. I was like, little girl, you better stop. Go off. Yeah. Yes. Love that. And then she danced the way she dances. Her improvement, sir. And she's so lanky. Not even trying to be funny, but we both kind of have similarly long limbs. We're both lanky as well. Yes. Yeah.

00:26:36 --> 00:27:05 I was never in my body until I hit like 16. And even still, I was like wrong. The fact that she's so cognizant of like where her hand needs to go, like the facial, she's locked in. I'm like, good for her. Like, it's impressive. How much she's improved is insane. Oh my God, yeah. You know, we are both dancers and you can tell just her awareness of her body and her awareness of textures in the music. Yeah. Has improved so much. Yeah. So, so much. It's crazy.

00:27:05 --> 00:27:33 And it's cool to see her just build her stage presence. Oh my God. Yes. Oh my God. She's getting into it. She looks like her mother. Oh my goodness. Honestly, she looks like both of them. She does. Yeah, she does. She does. But when she makes certain faces, I'm like, Beyonce. Yes. I will say this act is definitely one of my favorites in the show. Yeah. And it feels like the whole thing's about like power and authority. And I think the way that that was done is very, very cool. Yes. Um,

00:27:34 --> 00:28:02 I love Spaghetti. Oh my God. I think it's such a cool track. And the band, this is where it was like, yes, the band is giving it so much power here. There was so much attitude in the vocal. I think this was one of the lipped ones, from my understanding. But I think the track already has a lot of just inherent drama and darkness to it. And it was just everything was brought up to another level. So Spaghetti, I thought, was just an awesome, awesome performance. Yes. Yeah.

00:28:02 --> 00:28:21 And then formation comes at a perfect time here because, again, the casuals needed a hit. Oh, my God. Yeah. Oh, my God. Yeah. The way she did it, though, the whole, like, you know, I guess you'd say Michael Jackson or Fosse, if you guys are like dancers, but the whole holding the hat and keeping the pelvis forward.

00:28:21 --> 00:28:38 Yeah, but it felt very like, you know, standoff Western film as well. So I think because of all the musical hits. But yeah, no, I think that segue into formation and giving the classic choreography was great. But yeah, you're right. She did need to do that as well.

00:28:38 --> 00:28:53 Yeah. And then, like I said, I think like this whole act is about power, authority and information is perfect for that. You know, it's about rallying against oppression. It's embracing your power and your power together. And it's always so awesome.

00:28:53 --> 00:29:11 like that the way the song is always choreographed is awesome the giant line of female dancers is just so effective it is don't quit don't quit we love that let me get in my house which I also love and I love that we had an inflatable house in the back oh

00:29:11 --> 00:29:36 Oh my God. Yeah. It was just like kind of bubbling about. I don't think it's like cute. Yeah. And then it deflates at the end. So it's like, well, you can't contain her in any house, you know? So I thought that was cool. What did you get all the imaging off? Yeah. Well, then it ends with D.Va, which is also a powerful statement, right? Because it's like I, using D.Va in a good way, right? Yeah. So this whole act I thought was really, really well thought out.

00:29:36 --> 00:30:02 Totally. And again, going back to what I was saying about needing to freshen it up, you know, powder the nose a bit with a remix. We have TGIF and Like a Pimp mix in with D.Va. And again, you need that relevant track or like something that is tied to the culture, like that's current to keep it fresh. Because we've heard this song time and time again and Blue advocated for it years ago. So here it is back in the thing.

00:30:02 --> 00:30:17 Yes and she played on the She Ain't No Diva Little moment This time they show someone as she says She's such a diva At the end But it was so funny because I was like She ain't no diva And I'm just like looking at her

00:30:17 --> 00:30:37 And you don't realize the camera's on you. I think they weren't supposed to show people during the She Ain't No Diva. They're only supposed to show a person for She's Such a Diva. But I think they made a mistake one of the nights. Or your night? Was it your night? I think it was your night. Because I was watching. No, I think my night was fine. So it was another Jersey night, maybe. Yeah, because literally the girl's like this. Yeah. I was like, oh.

00:30:37 --> 00:30:57 She was just, honey, she was out to the lunch. She was like, oh my God, Beyonce. And I hear it, it's Beyonce, but girl, don't get caught slacking. But yeah, no, I think My House and Bow Down Spaghetti, but it had elements of flawless and run the world. There's a lot of good things in there that kind of teases you as a fan. So I appreciate this act as well. Is it my favorite? Mm-hmm.

00:30:57 --> 00:31:24 oh it's up there for me yeah i'll have to think it might be my favorite i need to think about it again but but yeah it was up there well you know what yeah this one gave me life i go home too you're right okay moving on to the next act which was refuge this had alligator tears just for fun protector and flamenco so this is now a calmer moment in the show right right right okay yes what'd you think

00:31:24 --> 00:31:45 The interlude gave us the story about Cowboy Carter and how she blew into town. Beyonce. Beyonce. Carter. I'm trying to use her or her family name. I don't pronounce it well. But yeah, it gave us a micro movie about Cowboy. Beyonce Carter. And how she came into town, became the queen bee and had a family. I think that was really cute.

00:31:45 --> 00:32:09 I can only again, it's one of those things where it's like when you look at the visuals and the quote unquote visualizers from was it last year now and how everything ties in together. It's like, wow, the amount of time and energy that was spent prior to this concert actually coming to fruition. I wish to be a fly and well, I wouldn't tell a single person. I wouldn't say nothing. I just want to sit there from inception to transmutation. Yeah.

00:32:09 --> 00:32:26 That's all I want. That's all I want. But yeah, no, the bar scene and that whole thing set everyone off because I was like, oh my gosh, she's dancing in the bar like Coyote Ugly and then she breaks the bottle over the woman's head. I was like, get her. Get Becky with the good hair. I mean, it wasn't indicated that was Becky but still, it's fun. And then it,

00:32:26 --> 00:32:51 really kind of gets into the whole western she's settling down kind of it's just a very interesting little micro movie um but yeah and then at the end it ends with the alligator beyonce sitting on top of a cg alligator drinking sir davis again um again she's butt ass oh she's butt ass naked honey her confidence is high she doesn't give a damn

00:32:51 --> 00:33:21 I mean, it's Beyonce. I'm sure you're right. If I were her, I'd be like, my booty be out too, honey. Okay. But, you know, I do appreciate these little interludes kind of creating a different world to step into. We're out of this aggressiveness. We're out of this loud and proud and kind of settling into the deep cuts on this album that you really have to sit through and actually kind of listen to. Because, honestly, this whole section of music is about the vocals and...

00:33:21 --> 00:33:43 And like the presentation. So even though some of it was lipped. Did you peep? Which ones were lipped? Ooh. Let me look through my notes. I think flamenco was for sure. But I didn't know. I don't know about the other three. I think flamenco for me too. Because I was like something was like. It was too perfect. Yeah. It was too perfect. Yeah. Especially her falsettos. Because I was just like.

00:33:44 --> 00:34:08 Not saying she can't sing, but the runs were just so track perfect. Yeah. That's when I was like, ooh, you would have freaked this a different way. I think the blend with the background singers was also too perfect. Oh, yeah. That's valid. That's valid. Yeah. It was like, there's no way. Not a critique, people. Just an observation. Look, you do what you need to do to put on a good show. Yes, in preserve your voice. Beyonce has to prove she can sing.

00:34:08 --> 00:34:23 Hello. She's beyond that. You know what you're talking about. Plus, the show is so long. Long, yes. Yeah, she needs a break. She does, she does. Yeah, just for fun, I love the more contemporary dancing here. It was very beautiful. Yeah.

00:34:23 --> 00:34:47 And I think the way they interpreted kind of the mix of hopefulness and sadness in the song was very well done. And of course, we have to talk about Protector. Oh, yeah. The kids come out. We have the women on like the cake platform thing. So beautiful. It's like a fountain with the way they all use their arms kind of facing different ways. Yes. Just a really beautiful moment about like, I guess, motherhood.

00:34:47 --> 00:35:04 Yeah, yeah. I think it's a very feminine... All the feminine presenting dancers were present. It's a very feminine exclamation, you know, of love. So we appreciate that. And I do appreciate that none of the songs were like...

00:35:05 --> 00:35:22 inappropriate this is like the healing section very healing very i'm learning how to accept like my favorite line in um just for fun is um get through this or just get or get used to it and it's true it's like after all this fighting and all this declaration

00:35:22 --> 00:35:43 We can take a breath. And this is the section that we definitely needed because it was very high octane in the beginning. And just talking about her costumes. Again, she's wearing this long denim dress. It was raining. Oh, my God. The stickiness. The ickiness. Like, if you are a sensory person, you cannot stand wet clothes on your body. I can only imagine how she felt. Protector was adorable. Rumi's hilarious.

00:35:43 --> 00:35:59 Yes, was she happy your night? She was. I think she just threw the hat a little too hard. But she was lip syncing and trying to be like, you know, a little bit more somber. She was lip syncing quite... She lip syncs like RuPaul. It's hilarious. Aww. It's so cute.

00:35:59 --> 00:36:13 Because I've seen some footage from other nights where she's clearly like over it a little bit. Like, why am I doing this? And there are other nights where she's like super excited. So it's just very funny. It is very funny. She has such a... Have you seen the clip of her with the... Not the handler.

00:36:14 --> 00:36:40 A handler means someone that's taking care of the kids. A lot of people think she's an animal, but she's a child handler. Have you seen her backstage? On the back of the platform, she's sitting there and she's rubbing her hand. People are like, yo, she's driving this woman crazy. I don't think she's driving the woman crazy. It's just so funny that Rumi's all over the place and she's throwing the hat and she can't catch it because she throws it too far. So she just sits on the platform like, don't move. But yeah, I think moments like that are super cute. Yeah.

00:36:40 --> 00:37:00 Yeah, Rumi was definitely feeling it, I think our show. And also, Blue, first off, their interactions are just so cute, just as a three. But also, there was that clip that went viral also from our previous show, where Blue's earring got stuck in Beyonce's hair. Oh. And she perfectly took it out. Hmm.

00:37:00 --> 00:37:26 Made sure she was good. They share a look. Make sure they're good. It was very professional. I love that. Which is awesome of Blue. Also, there's... Beyonce sings a couple lines of Dangerously in Love here. Oh, yeah. And Rumi sings along. Yes, that's the lip syncing. And I think that was just so cute. I was like, oh my God, Dangerously in Love. Out of all songs, too, it's Dangerously in Love. You know? Yes. It's like the Beyonce song. Yeah. Yeah. The Dusty's child turned Beyonce song. Right. Yeah.

00:37:26 --> 00:37:43 Okay, and before we end this, we do have to shout out that young tap dancer during Flamenco. Yes, the Irish step girl. Yes, girl, my bad. Irish step dancer. Is it tap dancing, river dancing? The show was called River Dance, but it's called Irish Step Dancer. Okay. Yes. Someone corrected me recently, and I was like, thank you.

00:37:44 --> 00:38:05 Yes. She was awesome. Dude, yeah. Oh, honestly, I forgot what those little arm wobbles are called, but the fact that she was doing them in the rain, I was like, girl, they couldn't pay me enough. I'm about to bust my behind out here in the rain. You would for Beyonce. You're darn tootin' rass, dude. You're right. You're right. I lied. I lied. I would. For her, anything. Beyonce, anything. Except buying your shirt. The chickie circuit? Yeah.

00:38:05 --> 00:38:23 Yeah, never. But the guitar players were going in with the flamenco guitar. Again, I love how everyone else was dressed around Beyonce. Don't get me wrong, Beyonce looked great. But the background singers look like old-fashioned background singers. Like, it was getting very much, you know, Ray Charles. Yeah. Girls.

00:38:23 --> 00:38:40 Yeah. That could be a better articulate sentence. You're fine. Yeah. I think this was a very like relaxing moment. I sat here and I felt very pensive, you know, in this section. I think, yeah, refuge felt safe for sure. Yeah. Nice.

00:38:40 --> 00:38:59 All right. Moving right along to a place I had to Google. We're going to act three, which is Marfa. And it features Desert Eagle, Riverdance, Two Hands to Heaven, Tyrant, Thick, Levi's Jeans, Sweet Honey, Bucking, Pure Honey, and Summer Renaissance. All right. Marfa. Do you know where Marfa is?

00:39:00 --> 00:39:15 Texas? Yeah. Yeah. That was a guess. Yes. It is not a sexy place, but go off. Oh, it's not a sexy place. No, it's dusty. What's it known for? Dustiness. I mean, I'm pretty sure it's like one of those like, if you know, you know spots. So forgive me for not knowing y'all. I don't know. Okay.

00:39:15 --> 00:39:38 Well, that makes sense for this kind of more sexy kind of act that we have here. Oh, my God. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, that's cool. If you know, you know. Honey, let me tell you something. That little interlude, the little VCR was given vintage sexy. The old images of the hot women, Playboy Bunnies, ladies of the night. Yes. You know, she was also. I appreciate her embodying like that.

00:39:39 --> 00:40:01 you know, adult worker situation. I was like, go ahead, girl. And then her being a patron is hilarious. She was, you know, like biting her lip going like, ooh. She's so unserious. But the whole thing really set the tone because I was like, where are we going with this? This is very smexy. And then that's where we were going. Yeah. So, yeah. What do you think about this one? Did you like this one as much as act two?

00:40:01 --> 00:40:24 Yeah, well, I think I like Act 2 more, but I will say my favorite, favorite performance is in this act. Ooh, stop. Which one? Okay, no, sorry. Okay, go ahead. Well, no. Yeah, so Thick. I was so excited for Thick. Oh, yeah. First off, Justice for Thick, because it was only in the last, you know, it was in the very first show of the Renaissance tour, and she didn't bring it back to the last shows. Yeah. You got to see it. I did not. Um...

00:40:25 --> 00:40:42 So I was just very excited that Vic was there. Yeah. And I was in that section. Oh, yes. Like on the side right in front of that part of the catwalk. Ah, delicious. So that whole moment with the bills, bills, bills. Oh, my God. Yes. Like hair salon situation. Lucky. Lucky.

00:40:42 --> 00:40:55 She was right in front of me, basically, for that. Oh my god, yes. So that makes it extra special, because obviously I love Destiny's Child. Yes. So I love Thicke, and I love Bills with Bills, and that whole performance was amazing.

00:40:56 --> 00:41:23 Yeah, man. The Bills, Bills, Bills, Teeth. I was like, honey, what you doing? I love the set design where they had the hair salon as a nod to the music video. But it was also neon, so it still had that Western thing. Listen, listen. We were talking about Act 3. We haven't talked about it really, really. But rumors are it's rock. You better rock them Destiny's Child girls back on a track. I don't care if you say featuring Kelly Rowland or featuring Michelle. I don't care. Figure it out. Don't tease us like this.

00:41:23 --> 00:41:45 Oh, man. Also, I was trying to think of if there was any meaning behind thick being linked with bills, bills, bills, or if it was just just an auditory thing or if there was actually meaning. But maybe it's kind of linking financial autonomy with sexual confidence. You know, owning your money and owning your body. Okay. Oh, sir.

00:41:45 --> 00:42:13 Yeah. I'm here for it. Go the hell off. Yes. But before that, of course, I also have to talk about Two Hands to Heaven, which I love. Some of my favorites on the album. Yeah. Choreography was great. Very, very feminine here, too. But then, again, there are moments that feel spiritual, obviously, just given the lyrics. But yes, again, very well done kind of balance of the two, right? Yeah. Because it was kind of sexy, but then it was also spiritual. So it was like kind of an interesting mix of the two. Yeah. And then, of course, we got the Mechanical Bull for Tyrant. Yeah.

00:42:13 --> 00:42:35 I'm crying. Yeah. That was so funny. You know what? The little cat dog double head situation. Yeah. What are those? Is that a thing? Those are bulls. I just think they want to. Is a double headed thing a thing though? I don't know if it's a thing. Okay. Someone tell us. It's just like cat dog to be cat dog. Cat dog. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

00:42:35 --> 00:43:02 It reminded me too much of CatDog. Not no tea nor shade. It's one of those things like I'd rather say something funny than not express myself, y'all. But yeah, no, literally it was giving CatDog. I'm not mad at it. But the way the girls are kind of riding a little banana-shaped bull thing. I was like, oh, off. I'm not going to lie. I wanted more of a moment with that horse. I mean, the horse. The mechanical bull. Something about it just felt so like. Like the riding wasn't enough for you? You wanted it more chaotic? Yeah.

00:43:02 --> 00:43:10 Not chaotic, but I don't know. It was just like, spin, stop. Spin, stop. And dip. I mean, if you want to lip sync it.

00:43:11 --> 00:43:40 Yeah. If she was lip syncing. She was. Okay, thank you. Because I was like, because when it dips, there was no, you know, you can't, you can control your body's yoking, but you can't really control a bull's yoking. You know what I'm saying? So I was like, girl, it wasn't bad, but I didn't hate the tyrant spinning. It was just so funny because I was like, okay, she's on it for a minute. She's been on it for a little while. And then she just kept being on it. And I was like, okay, this is the whole thing. I got it. Okay. Yeah.

00:43:40 --> 00:44:03 But no, no tea, no shade. I'm just being silly. I do appreciate that red latex bodysuit we got. Oh my God. I think Desert Eagle probably is my favorite in terms of visual because you get the mountain peaks, you get a staircase that was reminiscent of Beachella and the girls are coming down the stairs and they're kind of like do-si-do-ing forward. I was like, y'all better, y'all better stop.

00:44:03 --> 00:44:28 You better stop before I do something. I don't know what I was going to do. But the whole point is I felt like I was a part of something here. And then the smoke started coming in. And I was like, what a great transition. So I think that section, I was like, delicious. I think a slower moment was the Levi's jeans. Yes. That kind of like brought the energy down a little bit. It was cute, though. Yeah, with the big lip. And if you're here for the male dancers, that was a moment for them.

00:44:28 --> 00:44:54 I was not looking at them then. I don't know what it is. I was not paying attention. I was looking at Beyonce, though. I mean, I was looking at Beyonce, too. But I should have. I mean, it's also her on the couch with all the men like pining for her. I know. But I don't know why I wasn't focused on them. I don't I'm kind of mad I didn't look because I do like a good bit of ab and muscle. But I do appreciate them like moving the chair and we getting like the aerial shot of what was happening on the stage. Yeah. So that was fun. I appreciate that. But yes. Yes.

00:44:54 --> 00:45:15 And then it ended with Sweet Honey mixed with Pure Honey, Summer Renaissance, and then back into the Bucking part of the song. Oh my god, yes! Love this whole section. It's just so joyful. Yes. The whole kind of line dancing situation with it was very, very fun. And yeah, it's great that Summer Renaissance got a little moment here again. Yes. You know? Yes. Yes.

00:45:15 --> 00:45:31 Because, yeah, I feel like with the last tour, you know, basically ended the show, the Renaissance show. With her floating away. With her arm. Yeah, with her arm, the thing. So she didn't get to move that much. So this time, you know, there was a dance break. Yes. I mean, it was for a bucking. But still, you know, Summer Renaissance got a little different moment here.

00:45:31 --> 00:45:55 This is true. She wasn't fully like a goofy goober. But yeah, the bucking, I was doing the choreography because if you guys don't know, I actually was Beyonce for Beyonce Bowl Cover with a dance crew called Not Shy here in New York. And honey, I ate it up. I didn't do the bucking part. I didn't do the bucking part. Nope. If you look anywhere on TikTok, I'd mess that choreography up. Do not. Don't clock it. Or clock it. I don't care. But yeah, no, I was sitting there walking.

00:45:56 --> 00:46:23 You know, so yeah, iconic choreography by Paris. Okay, moving on to Tease. Yes. So this had Texas Hold'em, and then we got the Hits medley. We got Crazy in Love, Single Ladies, Love on Top, Irreplaceable, and If I Were a Boy. Then we got Jolene, Daddy Lessons, Bodyguard, Two Most Wanted, a very, very short rendition of Two Most Wanted. Cuff It, Heated, and then Before I Let Go.

00:46:23 --> 00:46:47 Stacked. There's a stacked section. Oh my God. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. So this video interlude is where we have the giant Beyonce stomping all over the world. I love that. We of course get the iconic Statue of Liberty lighting her cigar. I was like, oh my God. I was like, yeah, that's so easy. I mean, it's pretty great. It was. It was so funny. I was like, that's my city. I was like, yeah, that's so cool. Calm down.

00:46:48 --> 00:47:09 I'm a hater. I believe this is the section. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the first show or a couple shows she was holding the sphere when she was in Vegas, but then the sphere got mad about it, so they had to replace it with the stadium. The allegiance. Honey, it's promotion. What is wrong with y'all? Her and the sphere, there's been some fallout with that relationship.

00:47:09 --> 00:47:29 from my understanding. They said, girl, put the dot down. You know what? Maybe Act 3 will be a sphere, sphere residency. Who knows? That would be, like, overwhelming. Can you imagine? Gosh. But yes. Oh, man. This VCR was so cute. And again, it ties back into what I was saying about, like, with Texas Holden, that poster of her on the post, the, the, how do you say it? The...

00:47:29 --> 00:47:59 How do you say that billboard? Yeah, Jesus. Yeah, that billboard. And it ties back into it because there was like these miniature men as her. Oh, my gosh. And then we get this big freaking Mack truck. And like my uncle, he used to drive these 16 wheelers. So I looked at that truck and I was like, bro, take me back to take me back to the Tyson chicken truck days. Let's go. So I remember going down south and I love those big CDL license trucks. I love them.

00:47:59 --> 00:48:09 But yeah, no, her standing on that, it's illuminating. It's big. It was just so awesome to look at. And then to do all of these things.

00:48:10 --> 00:48:35 medleys oh my god yes also i do want to ask texas hold them lipped oh okay yes right yes okay yeah yeah okay okay because literally she turns her back and she round round round round i'm like grosses this is this is i think the whole song though this is net the whole song is lipped yeah i was like girl this is netflix so this is not and again i'm not mad at it not at all it's just actually kind of fun to clock

00:48:35 --> 00:48:52 Yeah, it's fun. It's like, hang on. It's honestly, she is such a good lip syncer and their sound engineer does an amazing job because if you go to other shows, sometimes you can really tell because it's literally a completely different feed that this vocal is coming from. And it's like, okay, this is clearly a different... Yeah, but the way they do it,

00:48:52 --> 00:49:16 It really feels like it's coming from her mic. Uh-huh. It sounds like... And she times talking and stuff. Yes. So that it makes it feel like she's doing it when she's actually not. It's great. Uh-huh. It's so smart. I love it. Yeah. I was watching something. She almost... She was like, um... And she said something. And then... Not said something, but there was a thing. She's just saying with her head. And I'm like...

00:49:16 --> 00:49:36 You are so damn good at lip syncing. I'm a terrible lip syncer. I'm going to tell you guys right now. It's a skill. It is. No Tino Shay toward her. But yes, I do appreciate that the run, the riff, whatever. I do appreciate that it's a new ending. Well, it's the one from the Beyonce Bowl, right? No, it's different.

00:49:37 --> 00:50:07 Is it? Yeah. She goes around. This ain't Texas. There goes down, down, down, down, down, down, down, down. Whatever. She does that. This one is different. It's just slightly different. It starts in the beginning. It starts in the beginning similar but at the end she changes it. Which made me think maybe the mic turned on just for that one part so she can stand on top of the Mack truck. But they could have just changed it for the sake of the show. No, I think they just re-recorded it for this tour. Yes then. Okay. I was trying to give it a bit of further down.

00:50:07 --> 00:50:25 To be fair, that runs very hard. It is. And again, I'm not mad at her, but I remember seeing her turn around, walk back to this. Oh my girl, that's just in there doing the Cowboy Carter-Beyonce bull run there. But yeah, it was slightly different. I think my favorite part of this was like...

00:50:25 --> 00:50:38 Church Quill is not my favorite song on the Renaissance. I think I've said this on the Renaissance review as well. The fact that it was sped up to Max the Pony up remake for Texas Hold'em had me in stitches. I was dying. Crazy in Love...

00:50:38 --> 00:51:08 Never going to be mad at that rendition with Jay-Z. I'm a hustler in it. I love that throughout the show when Blue was dancing, she was dancing through a lot of it. But when it got a little bit shaky, shaky, booty, booty, homegirl was gone. So I don't care if anyone says that she's forcing her to do this. No one's being forced to do anything. No one's tying this girl up and like, you're going to perform. She comes out. It's very age appropriate. It just feels natural. It feels very natural. Single ladies would get me bodied.

00:51:08 --> 00:51:27 Oh my god B-Day Is one of my Favorite Stinking albums Because she was going That's the album That converted me Into a Beyonce fan I used to not like this woman That's the album That converted me Because I love getting me bodied Freakam Jess I am so mad She played us Because I was like Girl if you do that bridge I'm like

00:51:27 --> 00:51:47 I'm going to lose my mind. I would take a lip sync of that. But yeah, everything was just so big and bold and love on top was there. And it was like, why is love on top? Because literally the baby that she was singing and revealed to us is on the stage with her. It makes sense. Even though it's like thrown right in the middle. Cause four got no love.

00:51:47 --> 00:52:10 So it's like whatever. But that's in there. Like this whole section was really good. And when we came back and chilled out and did If I Were a Boy and it segued into Jolene, it was like, dang, you're talking about getting cheated on and destroying your whole relationship. And now we're talking about Jolene again. Amazing. Yeah. Yeah. The way If I Were a Boy seued into Jolene was awesome. I will say If I Were a Boy is I often forget about If I Were a Boy, to be very honest. Valid. Valid.

00:52:10 --> 00:52:34 I always forget how big it is for the casuals. Yeah. Because it is not even close to being one of my favorite Beyonce songs. Me either. Sure. Yeah. Like I said earlier, this Hits Medley was needed. I think, actually, really, observing the people around me, they probably would have wanted us to be longer than that. Hmm. Hmm.

00:52:34 --> 00:52:54 But it did the job. Oh, shoot. It did the job. You know, the casuals love single ladies. Oh, my God, yes. It's one of those situations where the fans love all her deep cuts more than the singles, for the most part, I would say. Yeah, yeah. So you can, it's during these moments where you can really tell the difference. No, totally. I remember during Formation, she did running, running, running, running.

00:52:54 --> 00:53:13 Me? I was in a runnin' from us down. And people were like, girl, what song is this? I'm like, you didn't know this song? Yeah, yeah. And shout out to her, again, and the team for being able to have elements of boots on the ground with heated. Because boots on the ground is a fan dance. And heated click clacks. You know what I'm saying? So, again, very relevant. Very relevant.

00:53:13 --> 00:53:31 Very on time. Before we even get to heated, though, I mean, we had the giant horseshoe flying for Jolene. And then some of Daddy Lessons as well, which I also love Daddy Lessons, the Dixie Chicks version, especially. And of course, that is what caused a lot of this.

00:53:31 --> 00:53:45 was her appearance at that country award show. I mean, it's not amazing that she got booed. Let me just, I said amazing, but it's like crazy what that one moment triggered. Oh my God. And arguably, I love Daddy Lessons more than any of the Cowboy Carter albums.

00:53:45 --> 00:54:04 You are so funny. Just being honest. That is hilarious. So very excited that was in here. That's so funny. And Bodyguard is actually my favorite song on Cowboy Carter. Beyonce said the same thing too. She loves this song. Yeah, I heard that. Look at me. I've got good taste. You do. You do. But yeah, there's just something so slinky about it. Yeah. Yeah.

00:54:04 --> 00:54:29 Yeah, she did lip sync it. But again, I think that was that made sense because this vocal is actually kind of hard to execute, I would say. So yeah, very excited that that was there. And then she hops back on the horseshoe. Yes, we get a little bit of two most wanted. Yes, very little. Yeah, I guess I guess she was just like, I can't do this without Miley. Shoot, honestly, if Miley wasn't promoting the album, she could have came for one.

00:54:29 --> 00:54:53 I mean, she did. I don't know if it was a joke, but apparently she's going to join her in Paris or at least tease that she would join her at the Paris shows. Okay. Okay. You better, girl. I'm trying to see that. I'm trying to get the harmonies. That song goes off. I love that song. It's so good. Oh, my God. So good. Jeez. Yeah. So she flies to a platform. Yes. BC stage. Yeah.

00:54:53 --> 00:55:10 sea stage sea stage right is it even that I don't even know because it's like because I feel like on one side that's where like the VIP people were right and then they left the other side empty so she could come and perform Cuffin yes no literally quite literally yeah so you know you're right

00:55:10 --> 00:55:27 What did you think of Heated here? Because she does it on the horseshoe for some of it, and then she kind of gets off of it. And then, of course, the whole rap, I guess, has become a moment, right? Like, everyone can do the rap. So maybe that's why she brought it. I will say, I think this is maybe the most random song on the set list for me. Heated. Heated.

00:55:27 --> 00:55:57 You know what? It just doesn't really, I don't know, it doesn't really fit the vibe of anything this time around. No. I love Heated, don't get me wrong. Yeah, but it doesn't. But it just felt a bit random for me. Yeah, because then you're going to sit there and go right into, you know, all the Renaissance stuff. It could have just been thrown. You're right. I get what you're saying. I think because of the boots to the ground, it's a very, it's a fan. It's a line dance. It's very popular right now. And the fans clack. Yes. We love a fan clack. Exactly.

00:55:57 --> 00:56:16 It's not like freaking dragons in the stadium How to Train Your Dragon Coming out on the end of the month Nope we're not sponsored I just love that movie So yeah So it makes sense of clacking You know And just an interactive moment because she knows People know the rap I guess

00:56:16 --> 00:56:35 Yes. Yes. It is very fun. It's so cute. And I love the Before I Let Go ending. Oh, my God. Love Before I Let Go. R.I.P. Frankie Beverly. To have him on the side of the screen. Like, I can only imagine for someone who... Because, like, for me, people are like, you don't know the Beatles? I'm like, no, but I know Maze and Frankie Beverly. I know, you know, Blue Magic. I know the Delphonics. Because, like...

00:56:37 --> 00:56:57 Real quick, socially speaking, people think that Black people don't have culture. And it's like we have so much culture. Who says that? Some people who are a little bit ignorant, they say, oh, you guys are only good at X, Y, and Z. Right? But there's so much story. There's so much life. Before I Let Go is played at all the barbecues. It's played at all of the events, the weddings. Like, it...

00:56:57 --> 00:57:12 It's a great breakup song. I think people realize it's a freaking breakup song. But to have Frankie Beverly, who recently passed, not recently, but like passed in the past several years, right next to her archival footage, her singing, everyone's singing. It's just so...

00:57:12 --> 00:57:35 Like, as a Black American person, it is so awesome to see because it's just like, we've come so far. We've come so far. So it's a very proud moment for me. It just felt so amazing. And I'm just like, wow, we're all singing this because we, even if you're not Black, you know the song now because Beyonce has brought it to another generation. And people are probably like, who's this old dude on the screen? And it creates conversation. I'm just like, oh, we've come so far.

00:57:35 --> 00:57:59 I mean, this whole trilogy is about reclaiming, you know, what black culture has brought to America. Yes. So yeah, that's awesome. Yeah, this one was great. I love the whole electric slide situation. Yes. And yeah, it's great. You know, this was... I love that this has almost become a staple for her a little bit. For it to have been a Netflix special ending theme, go the heck off. Yeah.

00:58:00 --> 00:58:17 Even House to be a Renaissance film ending theme. Go off. So, yes, we're going to just go right on into, speaking of Renaissance, into the Renaissance. And that was done with Daughter, I'm That Girl, Cozy, and Alien Superstar.

00:58:17 --> 00:58:38 Okay, the LED dress of Daughter. So I'm going to be honest, Daughter is not a song that I really turned back to very often from the Cowboy Carter album. I thought, obviously, the vocal performance is great, but just melodically, it didn't really do anything for me. Yeah. But, obviously, live, it was like, whoa. Yeah. Yeah.

00:58:39 --> 00:59:08 Yes, because of the vocal. Yeah. But also because of that LED dress. Oh, that dress, that dress ate down. That dress was performing. That dress was like, girl, hang on, it's my cue. Melt, melt, melt. Lights and glowing. Oh my God. I sat there with my camera the whole time. I wanted to sit there and really listen to her, but I was like, screw it. I need to have this on my phone to look back on her brilliance. She better release a damn film and explain the dress. Explain the garment. Like, who are you wearing? Oh, like. What?

00:59:08 --> 00:59:25 Yeah, I think that... I think daughter is an interesting way to open up the Renaissance. Because daughter is about her running up on a chick and ending this woman's life. There's nothing about it that's giving Renaissance that's very regressive, actually. It's not...

00:59:25 --> 00:59:46 I mean, it was basically its own act almost. It was the opera. They were like, this is opera, this is drama, whatever the word said on the screen. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So yeah, I do appreciate that, but it was just so funny because I was like, girl, what the heck? And then we got another little interlude before, you know, we got that revamp of... Well, that interlude was basically what we see at the start of Renaissance.

00:59:46 --> 01:00:04 Yeah. You know, I'm that girl cozy alien superstar. Like the bed will never be over it. I mean, it was the first three songs. It was literally or not. I don't want to say completely literally, but it was very close to what exactly was the opening of the Renaissance tour. Yes. Um.

01:00:04 --> 01:00:23 With, I guess, some improvements along the way for her. Yes. So, I understand there were little changes that were made, but for the most part, it was basically the same. You get the frames again. Love those. For cozy. Yeah, I thought it was great to have this. I think in terms of energy.

01:00:23 --> 01:00:36 It was good. We needed another moment to kind of just hype everyone up. Because I think even if you don't know these songs that well, if you are a super casual fan, there's just a natural energy in this. Yes, yes. In these songs. And then, of course...

01:00:37 --> 01:01:07 Renaissance was supposed to be Act 2. Oh my god, yes. Right? So they're actually having it towards the end of the show. It's like, oh, well, this was the original vision. I was telling you about what Black culture brought to America in the past. Oh, yeah. And then they brought it up a little bit into the 70s, 80s. It was like we were also a big part of the ballroom culture and dance music. So it makes sense, actually, that Renaissance was supposed to be Act 2. So I think this was also a nod to that.

01:01:07 --> 01:01:24 Yes. Yeah. I'm not sure if you realize, but someone pointed out that, was it Cozy, where she's singing about like, paint the world pee pink and then blue light the soul I cry. She's actually like, low key describing the pride flag.

01:01:25 --> 01:01:47 so I'm cool. Again, brilliant. Yeah. Yeah. And then to have this whole very much queer moment, I didn't even realize that at all when our songs came up, but someone pointed it out and I saw that and I was like, brilliant, absolutely brilliant. So having this happen and then we get into like the, the transition where she has to go backstage and then they bring out that whole, that,

01:01:47 --> 01:02:02 ballroom yes ota moment ota is really popular here in new york girl open to all but yet honey was speaking of honey honey came back i was like honey dancing in that rain with those those fans oh yeah i saw i saw a clip from your show yeah

01:02:03 --> 01:02:32 Kudos. Honey. I would have been like, no. I mean, again, it's one of those things you couldn't pay me enough, but if it's Beyonce, like you could pay me enough. Yes. Yes. I have to praise the dancers. The versatility is insane. And I'm going to notice more of the male dancers a bit, because I think they had a larger stretch to go, because they had to go so masculine and butch for a lot of the first part of the show. And then the second Renaissance happens, it's so femme. And...

01:02:32 --> 01:03:01 Yeah, it's like insane how quickly they can turn that around. Yeah. Super, super impressive. But yeah, again, it's just great. Like this show does such a good job of, because, you know, Renaissance was very focused on like, you know, the dance and ballroom culture. So this one showing such a wide contribution of the Black community, like through American history. Yeah. That you went from the cowboys to now like the ballroom culture. Oh my God, yeah. And within two-ish, three-ish hours is so awesome to see. Yeah.

01:03:01 --> 01:03:09 And then now we're going to add act three too, right? So that's even more. So that's really cool. Like I said in the beginning, the progression of the show was just like, yeah.

01:03:11 --> 01:03:39 oh no. It's very emotional. And I guess with the daughter kind of leading into Renaissance too, like I guess the performance itself was pretty futuristic with the dress. So then it kind of leans into more of this kind of more metallic kind of situation. Yeah, yeah. I mean, what if you guys have a theory beehive? Oh, also if you made it this far, you might as well subscribe. It means you like the episode. And also definitely hit us up on the Spotify. The Spotify. Subscribe there too. Excuse me. English is not my first language apparently. But yeah, you know,

01:03:39 --> 01:04:05 Just want to reclaim our time. Which brings us to the last act. Wait. Oh, I lied. You forgot that Blue gets her moment. Oh, my God. Yes, for Deja Vu. With Deja Vu. Yes. I thought you were a B-Day fan. You know what? You know what? I got clocked. I got hickory dickory docked. He's so right. Honey, that Deja Blue moment. Deja Blue. She was eating that up.

01:04:05 --> 01:04:20 She was. I was so... Huh? It's so interesting to watch her. Like, you can see that she's still a child. The thing about her looks grown. Or, like, she's trying to be like, I'm an adult. But there is something so nice to see a child who was bullied...

01:04:21 --> 01:04:49 Before she even could poop. I mean, could even talk. Excuse me. Now stepping on stage in front of thousands upon thousands upon thousands of people. And not breaking eye contact. It's so interesting. Because obviously when she first saw it, she was like, what, 12? Maybe 11? She was a kid. She was a baby, bro. Trying to figure out the stuff. I mean, Beyonce started when she was what? I'm surprised. Eight. I don't know. I mean, she did say. It's just like, you know, she's training the next generation.

01:04:49 --> 01:04:55 I'm in tears. I'm crying about SM Entertainment. Let's go. That's literally what's happening, though.

01:04:56 --> 01:05:20 There must be something so amazing about able to look over to your right and seeing your daughter. Like, looking at this, I looked at her and I was like, yo, if I have a kid, you're going on stage with me. I'm joking, but it's so nice to be able to share your work with your family, you know? But yeah, no, she ate that up. And see the vintage. The vintage. Wow. Wow. The old choreography. Vintage is crazy. Wow.

01:05:21 --> 01:05:41 The original choreography. Thank you for the English. They don't speak it well. Yeah. To see that choreography, I was like, you better go off with the hair flip. And shout out to her with that. Listen, mermaid braids, boho braids, whatever she got going on right now, it is a lot of hair on her head. And she did not flinch once with the flipping. So kudos to her.

01:05:41 --> 01:06:03 Nice. I do think it's funny. I was talking to some people I was with afterwards and they were like, Blue's a great dancer, but we haven't heard her sing yet. What if she's actually a terrible singer? You know what? She might not be a good singer because she's training more. She might be a better dancer than her mother, though. I will tell you that much. Let's be real here. Beyonce, she can kind of freak a little something. She can freak something, right?

01:06:03 --> 01:06:33 But she ain't going to be... Because Blue... Blue's going to lap her in dancing. Vocally? Interesting. I don't think so. I think because Blue is... Not that Beyonce was a bad dancer. Let's be real. She was not a bad dancer. And she was sitting there hitting moves that her mom was in at 10. But I feel like Blue's bag's going to be modeling and movement. She could possibly sing. But I haven't heard her speak in a while. Anyway. In the Lion King movie. Yeah. Yeah. Let's see what happens to her boys. Oh, I did not see that. I did. She sounded cute. I don't think singing's her...

01:06:33 --> 01:07:00 bag yet does she sing in that no but i just listen to the tone of her voice i could be wrong maybe she'll kind of be like mom i want to try but i don't okay i don't think i will say we haven't actually spoken about it because obviously beyonce did have that big knee injury oh my god yeah a few years ago honestly i think we talked about this at the renaissance show too they navigate it so well they do like she has some moments where she can still kind of go off but but it's never too much like they really planned that out really well so

01:07:00 --> 01:07:18 Yes, awesome. I do appreciate it. Honestly, if I were her, I would figure out how to maneuver some type of wardrobe, knee, compression sleeve. Y'all better design to my outfit. So kudos to her. Listen, listen, I don't know how bad it is. I don't know what kind of pain she feels, but I know how I get if...

01:07:18 --> 01:07:32 I have recent injury and I'm out in the cold. I feel the ache. So again, with her being out on that Wednesday night with the rain and it was cold as it was. And she's sitting there like, y'all look so, y'all look so nice out here. I'm like, are you ain't cold?

01:07:32 --> 01:07:52 I mean, with all the flames and sage and the heartbeat, you know, maybe not. But like she goes, thank y'all so much for dressing up in your cowboy outfits. I was like, if you don't stop, woman, go get some tea. Go get a scarf. I hope she didn't get a sinus infection because, you know, she's prone to those. Y'all have to see in the movie. She had a hyperbaric time chamber. Yeah.

01:07:52 --> 01:08:20 But yeah, no, I think this scene was just so, the scene, this act was really fun. And to kind of have Beyonce, not Beyonce, Blue almost be the renaissance of Beyonce's movement. Because what Beyonce will not do anymore, Blue gonna do it. Okay, because Beyonce gonna be hitting them little Josephine Baker African steps no more. She ain't gonna be doing that West African head. She ain't doing that no more. Blue can. She got young, limber joints. Let's go.

01:08:22 --> 01:08:32 Yes. Okay, yes. Now we're on to Reclamation. The final part of the show. And we had 16 carriages and Amen. Yeah. Yeah.

01:08:32 --> 01:09:01 And first we get an interlude showing Beyonce's entire career. Oh my God. Basically from her being a child, training through Destiny's Child, through solo music, through the movies. Yeah. And surely in those flashes at the very end, someone's already found an Act 3 teaser, right? Oh my gosh. It's so hard to tell with her sometimes because she's... How you gonna film all that? How you gonna film all this footage just for some cute little... Girl, if you don't release the visuals. Oh God, she killed her.

01:09:02 --> 01:09:13 God, I'm telling you, I think she's waiting. I think I said this last time. I think she is waiting for all of it to be done. And then maybe she'll give it to us. And if not, leave it with Blue to give it to us.

01:09:13 --> 01:09:39 Watch her just be waiting for 20th anniversary. That's what I'm saying. We're going to be like 80 years old watching the Renaissance and Cowboy Carter visuals for the first time. And Blue's going to be like, my mother wanted me to release this. Oh my God. I'm telling you. For the 50th anniversary of Cowboy Carter. And Blue's going to have her own baby Ruby. You know what I'm saying? Like it's going to be one of those things. Oh my God.

01:09:40 --> 01:09:58 Ruby something or other, like, you know, whatever man she marries or whoever she decides I'm running in my business. But the thing is, it's like she's going to be sitting there like, my mother wanted me to release this from the vault. Like, come on, what you mean? That or she's going to wait until it's all done and then charge us out of our butts for a three DVD set. Remember when she used the DVDs? It's going to be a box set.

01:09:58 --> 01:10:17 Oh, interesting. She's going to do a box set. Like a trilogy box set. Shoot, I would if I were her. She would make more money if she did it one by one and then put it on a triple DVD with more exclusives. Because you know the fans would buy it again. Dang it. You know? That would actually be the capitalist way. Yeah.

01:10:19 --> 01:10:39 I'm going to have to wash the bootleg. Like, I got the tiki shirt. I know. Thank you to all the fan cams and stuff. We have been using them through this episode. We're crediting them all in the description. Thank you. Because I did not want to put my camera up for much of this. I'm crying. I understand. You got to be locked in. Yes. But yes. So, like you said, how many years?

01:10:40 --> 01:10:56 Even from girls' time, they had some footage. It's just, God, you know, people keep making this joke. Oh, yeah, you know, Matthew was cracking the whip and he, oh, he. Any person that is an expert in their field will tell you it takes 10 hours just to become a freaking master.

01:10:56 --> 01:11:17 Yeah, if your kids say they're interested in something and they actually have some promise, yeah, shoot. If I saw my kid can do backflips, gymnast right now. If I saw my kid can swim, Michael Phelps right now. If I saw my kid was like a savant with math, do my taxes right now. You know what I'm saying? To kind of think about how long she's been working is...

01:11:17 --> 01:11:35 It's crazy. It's like she's done her 10 hours and then some. But also, if you think about it, like, as long as she's been working, the amount of other artists has had the length of time, the pressure that she's had, and are no longer with us, is...

01:11:36 --> 01:12:05 a testament to maybe the kind of love that she received. Maybe the kind of, you know what I'm saying? So I think there's a bit of a difference. And because of all the love she received, she's able to look back on this and be like, Hey, I may have missed prom. I may have missed this situation. I may have missed sleeping on a, sleeping on a tour bus, but this is what I have now. And I'm so happy I have this. And you can, even when she's like riding in the, in the car and she's singing, I'm like, look at her flying around, looking at all the peasants. Yes.

01:12:06 --> 01:12:32 Yes. But yeah, I'm joking. Don't get in my bag. But yeah, so she's flying around and it's like she gets a chance to actually look at us the way we've looked at her for all these years. I think that kind of, if I were, shoot, one day, if I were planning that out and I was just flying around, it's like, why not get a chance to actually look at them? She's speaking to them, us, as the audience saying, like, thank you so much for taking this journey. It's been 24 years.

01:12:32 --> 01:12:52 You know the accent. You know what I'm saying? Like, we've seen so much of her. And this is the closest and the warmest she's been since, like, Formation. She was not playing. You know, this is, like, really close that we're going to get. So I love 16 characters. I love characters. The explosion of lights. Very emotional. Yeah.

01:12:52 --> 01:13:08 For sure. Very emotional. Yeah, she actually flew really close to me. Oh, wow. You didn't film it? With this footage right here. Yes, I did film. Yes. Okay. And it's on the socials at CCTV Pops as well. So go follow us. Yes. But, yeah, I love 16 Carriages, so yes, I love 16 Carriages.

01:13:08 --> 01:13:26 Her staring down at us peasants was a great moment. Oh, I did want to say, actually, the very end of the video before 16 Carriages, you hear, I believe, her father say something like, what is this song about? You got to start feeling what you're singing when you're really into the song. It shows very much so.

01:13:26 --> 01:13:55 Oh, yeah, that's right. Because she was singing One of You, Where You Are by Michael Jackson, right? Yes. Yeah. And we talk about this all the time on the show, especially with the more current artists. We've lost a little bit of that. Yes. But do you really know what the song that you're singing is about? Yeah. Yeah. And Beyonce does it so naturally. Mm-hmm. And so that being that final statement at the end of this whole montage, I thought was beautiful. Yeah.

01:13:56 --> 01:14:25 Yeah, because that's part of why it makes her such an amazing artist. So definitely want to shout that out. That's why people think she can act. This is exactly why. Because, honey, the facials and the emotions she gives when she sings, you'd be like, that girl can act. Don't get me wrong. I think in Dreamgirls and Cadillac Records, she ate those roles. But Obsession, Lion King, Nala shouldn't have a southern accent. Oh, no. I love Beyonce, but those two movies, she's just... So I never saw the Lion King live action because why did they do that? Like, I'd rather just watch the cartoon.

01:14:26 --> 01:14:54 Agreed. And I heard the story of Mufasa was awful. So anyway. I always wanted a brother. Chris is just like my brother. Right, but wasn't Scar like actually kind of screwed over? But anyway, we'll discuss this offline. Okay. Let's talk about Amen or Amen, depending on where you're from. Yeah, the imagery with the American flag. And just the whole, I don't know. I thought they did a really good job. Because again, the whole theme of the show is about...

01:14:55 --> 01:15:10 really how important the Black community and Black culture is and has been to America. And I think her just using that imagery, really claiming that imagery is really powerful. Yeah. Yeah. I think...

01:15:12 --> 01:15:36 Again, I saw a lot of different faces, different races in the crowd. And it's so interesting to have certain moments go viral and just be a spectator. Like when I go to musical and I see it's like either a period piece or like predominantly black cast. And I see a bunch of like white faces. I'm like, what are you getting from this? Do you feel like you're learning something or you feel like this is entertainment or is it both? And I think she does a very good way of not being preachy.

01:15:36 --> 01:16:00 I think that's so important because what happens is you're going to sit there and—not isolate, but you kind of repel the audience if it's too, like, you're wrong and critical. And it's not critical. It's just this is what is happening. This is what has happened. Make your own inference. You know? These are implications. These are this kind of thing. And I appreciate that because, yeah, you have—

01:16:00 --> 01:16:18 We have the dancers wearing the tuxedos, and then you have them with the capes that have the American flag on it. They're dancing with it. You have Lady Liberty, but when she turns around, she has a bandana around her mask. So she looks like a thug. She looks like she's dangerous. Yes. But it looks so cool. If you're looking at it with the frame line of someone like...

01:16:18 --> 01:16:36 Not even our age, but Lady Liberty with a bandana is like some of the sickest. It looks like a Western cowboy, but also a lot of quote unquote gangbombos do have the. So it just looks so gangsta. And you're just like, what is that? And it looks cool. How many years ago? You're just equating the Lady Liberty. Shh.

01:16:36 --> 01:17:06 Stop. You know that stuff looks cool. Stop it. You guys sell these little, you know, I love New York shirts on the corner and Lady Liberty's dress and all this kind of outfits. This is, it looks cool. And if you don't think it looks cool, then you're not getting the point. It's like we add our own little flair to the culture. We're still part of America. And yeah, I think that's one of my favorite set pieces because I was like, oh, that big old head, what is that? And it came out. I don't think anything will ever top renaissance in terms of that little thing.

01:17:06 --> 01:17:35 the disco donkey that that disco donkey even Shakira was like I need myself yes she has her own now yeah her wolf that's so funny but yeah I think yeah that was that was a really powerful ending yes powerful ending powerful yeah yeah for sure I mean I'm not black obviously yeah but I agree with you that uh I it never felt like it was like othering like it wasn't like trying to separate the communities at all it was more just trying to show um

01:17:35 --> 01:17:43 just share the knowledge of how the culture has affected the country. Thank you for saying that. I just want to ask you, what do you think about it?

01:17:44 --> 01:18:08 So I think, yeah, I agree. It didn't feel preachy. I think I have been in some situations where I felt othered a little bit or like I wasn't welcome there. I don't think that was the case with this at all. Like even with her band and her dancers and stuff, it was very diverse. Yes, it was for sure. The crowd is very, very diverse. So yeah, I feel like Beyonce has always done a really good job of that. And she's done a really good job with that with both acts so far. So.

01:18:08 --> 01:18:34 Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Oh, my goodness. So, that closes the show. Yes. Oh, my God, dude. Yes. Great show. I'm glad I ended up going. I am glad I ended up going. Yeah. Yeah, me too. And I do like Cowboy Carter more now. Oh, okay. I will say, may still be my least favorite Beyonce project. That's valid. I feel like... I appreciate, you know, the intention and the meaning behind it. Right. But just...

01:18:34 --> 01:19:03 Yeah. It's a mid-tempo situation. So you're just sitting there just like, okay, you know, you're just riding all through town. I get it. No, I listened to it a lot when I was driving last summer or whenever it came out. I don't remember anymore. It's like a blur when it came out, but I was listening to it a lot. It's still in my car, actually. But, yeah, no, I feel like, ooh, it's, ooh, ooh. I saw Act 1 is always going to be tough. Act 1 slash should have been Act 2 is always going to be, it's always going to be hard to top because it was just so, like,

01:19:04 --> 01:19:31 what? Oh my gosh. What the heck? The way it's mixed and everything flows into each other and the costumes and the choreographer and just the oh my goodness of everything. So I think act three, she's, oh my god. Oof. She's got her, it's like her, she keeps raising the bar so high. And I would say that this concert, I don't think it dims in comparison, but it's a different energy. This one's a little bit more raw. A little bit more like

01:19:32 --> 01:19:53 Easter egg hunty in terms of like look look and learn and listen so it tells more of a story but I think act three is going to oh my god whatever she does she's going to have to really really what shape is the stage going to be a diamond like what else you have circle you have a star like what is next

01:19:53 --> 01:20:15 Like, dude, what is she going to do? I mean, everyone's been saying it's going to be rock, right? Which I'm totally here for. Rock can mean so many different things, too, because obviously rock is also the foundation or has a lot of influences from soul music. Yeah. There's jazz influences there, too. So there's a lot of ways you could take the rock concept. Yeah.

01:20:15 --> 01:20:40 So I'm excited for that. And of course, we have to go see Act 3 if we've already seen Act 1 and 2. Yes, absolutely. I'm just excited. Obviously, I've said this every time we've done a Beyonce episode, but I have thousands of dollars ready for when Destiny's Child announced anything. No, I hear you. I hear you. It's in the bank.

01:20:40 --> 01:21:06 accruing interest ready to be spent on you desi's child Beyonce Kelly and Michelle um I did see I think Kelly might be a special guest on the Brandy and Monica tour that's happening yeah I think I've seen all three desi's child numbers individually yes many times now but I'm ready to see them as a group so I while I'm excited for act three I'm also ready for act three to be over so that we could just just give it to us just give it to us

01:21:06 --> 01:21:30 I'm ready I'm ready you're so right honestly I think it's gonna lead like some Tina Turner rock you know what I'm saying I'm excited yeah I'm excited for that but yeah dude how much time did she give us before she dropped act 2 like one year I think two years two years oh my gosh so I have to wait until 2027 terrible yeah

01:21:30 --> 01:21:50 Oh my goodness. Well, so it was a little different because we kind of had quite a long break between Cowboy Carter's release and the tour. Oh, yes. Right? Because there was all the rumors about the sphere. Oh, yeah. Which obviously didn't happen. Yeah. But then it was like, oh, maybe that was what was slotted for last year. And that's why Cowboy Carter tour is so kind of late. Ooh. Yeah.

01:21:50 --> 01:22:17 Interesting. Okay. I love the speculatory. That's a theory. Okay. I like that. We love a theory. Yeah, it's fun. But yeah, honestly, oh my God, I'll have to wait. So maybe next year. I think next year. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Hurry, hurry, hurry. Actually, don't rush. For me, the tour, then 2027. Yeah, yeah. My thing is, if she already has all the songs, hurry. Hurry up. I mean, she's been sitting in Cowboy Carter for like, what, five or six years now? That's amazing. Yeah.

01:22:18 --> 01:22:29 When I tell you, I'm just so amazed. Like, she is a star. She is our icon, and she's still alive. I'm not trying to be no tea, no shade to anyone.

01:22:29 --> 01:22:56 But scout burns and addictions and things like that have happened. And they're not around. And it upsets me. But she still is. She's still here. And I'm like, oh, my God. Please, please, before anything else happens in this earth, please do something. Drop another album. Before the aliens come. At this point. Honestly, they probably would think her and her dancers and her bands are part of it. Because they'd be like.

01:22:56 --> 01:23:19 Oh yeah, you're right. They would keep her around to still entertain. Exactly. While we all get turned into slaves, I guess. Just vaporized. I know I'm going first. I'd be sitting there like, oh my God. Like gone. Like the aliens. But yeah, no, if I was an alien, I'd be like. Yeah.

01:23:20 --> 01:23:35 Beyonce. Beyonce. Like, I learned that. And that's it. Just Beyonce. But yes, if you are a beehive, part of the beehive, or a bee stand, or maybe you're part of the Ivy League, because my friend was like, forget Beyonce, I'm an Ivy fan.

01:23:36 --> 01:24:02 The Ivy League is great. Isn't it? Maybe you're part of the Ivy League. Please let us know if you're expecting the album Act 3 to drop before the aliens drop. Come.
